Thank You (EDITED with AN ADDITION)

It might be Christmas Day for most of the world, but over here at my house, it's all over.

Not entirely over, but pretty much.

Took Kerry to the airport yesterday.  How about you take a moment of silence while I cry?

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Snort and sniffle.  I'll be okay.  Sniff.  Really.  I will.   We had a great time and I have the memories.  Sniff.

Our Christmas was on the 23rd this year.  We wore pajamas all day.  It wasn't my idea.  Really.  Everyone was on board except for my parents and brother.  They looked really funny, but oh well.  My oldest niece invited her boyfriend.  He just so happens to be six foot six.  Needless to say, he does not fit into our family.  I may be the runt, but my dad can't brag about being five foot five, now can he?  We played bowling on the Wii and her boyfriend had to kneel because the sensor thingamajig didn't work for him.  And if I was sitting on the couch and he was sitting on the floor, I'd have to yell, "Down in front!" because I couldn't see anything.

Yesterday, we had Christmas with my hub's family, went to church, and had our traditional Mexican feast.  Because we are not Mexican and that makes sense.

Edited Addition:
I've said before that we go to Saddleback Church.  Well, the Christmas Eve service featured the High School Ministry band performing The Little Drummer Boy (which I think is actually the Justin Bieber version but why would I know that?).  It's crazy good.  The video below is from December 3 when they first did it but I couldn't find a video from yesterday's service.

Anywho, before you watch, some things to consider:
1.  I don't understand much of what is said when the kids are rapping.  I think it's because I'm too old.  Maybe you'll do better.  I think the blond boy is very concerned about his hoodie messing up his hair.  Much like me.

2.  The girl on the keyboard doesn't seem that into it.  I don't know why.  Maybe she wanted to rap??  But give her some time.  She livens up a bit at the end.

3.  I am just fascinated by the drummers.  I think they're crazy good.

4.  At yesterday's service, the congregation went nuts as if we were at a concert.  Well, all right.  Maybe that was just me.

Let me know what you think! :)

I'm finished editing.  That's all, folks.  The rest of this post is what I already said earlier.  I would have written a whole new post but somewhere out there is a rule about not posting twice in one day.  Notice how I got around that?  Sometimes, my halo gets a little bit crooked.

So today is . . . well . . . let's see here.  Today is . . . the hubby and I are going to . . .

Today is ordinary for me.  Which is why I am blogging.  And the hub is still sleeping.  I'm going to get up in a little bit and make some coffee and cinnamon rolls.  No, silly!  Pillsbury.  Who do you think I am?

I am going to try to start my thank you cards for my kids.  I like to mail them over the break because I've heard that kids love getting mail (I do, too, but I mainly get bills).  When we used to be a year round school, I'd mail my kids something every time we were off track.  So this is pretty much my only opportunity.

I hand write them.  I know.  I have the time since I'm not making homemade cinnamon rolls.  Plus, I like my printing.

I have to write 29 this year because I got a class gift (I've debated telling you what it is.  Is it tacky to take a picture of all of my wonderful gifts?  I can't decide so I'm going to refrain.) and I have no idea if every family contributed or not.  And I'm sure others gave more than that guy and so on and so forth.  So I'll just be sure to send out one to every kid and then the families that didn't chip in will feel guilty will be confused when they receive it.

I stopped buying thank you cards a couple of years ago.  I'm cheap thrifty.  So I made some of these:

I print them out on cardstock, cut them apart, and get to writing.  I use the Invitation Envelope size for the mailing.  I created four different "designs" (ha!!!) and if you click the picture, you can have your pick.

I hope you enjoy your day, whatever you're doing.  I'll be stalking blogs and watching movies because we're forced to stay in our pajamas all day.  It's actually not even a choice - nothing is open.  What am I supposed to do?  I have made it a goal to have a Kristin-sized dent in the couch by the end of the day.  I'll let you know if I meet it or exceed it.

Merry Christmas, virtual friends!  You have been such an inspiration to me and all that other good, mushy, stuff.  THANK YOU!!!!!!

  1. That's awesome, getting a class gift! Now you've peaked my interest in what it is!! lol
Of course, here in AL, our legislature has decided we aren't allowed to accept gifts of any value...crazy, right? Anyway, Merry Christmas, girlie!

  5. I so enjoyed your family holiday stories. Now enjoy your YOU day today. I'm off to WALKING over to my parent's house for Christmas today, as I am CARless (not careless...well maybe a little). All my fault too. I drove to Taco Bell on my lunch break a week before school got out and ran into a crazy pole by their drive thru! Cut the corner to close even though I always tell myself when I go there "Watch that pole, Watch that pole". Guess I wasn't watching it that day. I end up with pretty purple paint scraped and dented along my car. $2,000 dollars later, I'll have my car fixed in about 10 days. Good thing my parents live close by and I don't mind walking my dog over for Christmas.

  6. A very merry day to you! I am still in my pjs...blog jumping (does that count as exercise?) and I seem to be following your comments, but I promise I am NOT stalking you!

    Nice run-on sentence.

We made cinnamon rolls from the pop-it can--today!
Please join my Janurary ideas link-party, when you get a minute. BTW, I can't wait to see the poem you are crafting for Jan. (hint, hint) :-)Chrissy

  8. I will join you when my mom leaves in your sniffling! We can pass each other the tissues while we both make the indentions on the couch! ha!! Enjoy your lazy day...I just took a FOUR HOUR nap!! Yep...that's right. Do you KNOW how long it's been since I've done that?? ha! Especially with a 2 year old running around - but I need the extra sleep to go pick up my mom tonight - her plane lands at 11:30 and it takes about 30 minutes to and from there...sigh. lol.
Thanks for being a great bloggy friend!

  9. KRISTIN!
    {That's me yelling to see if you can hear me across--upwards, I think--the state}

You made me cry. In a good way. Your comment was soooooooooooooo sweet. I am hoping all of those o's go on one line because "So" has only one syllable and we both know it cannot be broken even in a teeny tiny (sorry) comment box!

Guess what? I got... Not one, not two, but THREE pairs of PJs from (assorted) Santa(s)! So.... in PJs (purple with plaid), I started my movies with coffee, then there were a few diet Cokes for a movie and some cleaning, and now I have moved on to lemonade (and NOT the kind that says Minute Maid... in fact this doesn't even come in a carton...)

    WAIT! ALERT!
The mister made a comment... See he knows you!!! He said to tell you... Maybe the carton we are not drinking from says Minute Maid as in "MyNewt" Maid and then added "You know, like that Teeny Tiny Teacher." laughing, laughing, LAUGHING until lemonade almost... well, never mind.

So, Kristin-Dear, this comment is longer than some of my posts, BUT I need you to know that YOU make me happy. An you make me laugh too, but the happy part is even better because it's an all-the-time-thing, knowing you're out here somewhere in MY state!

Merry (not technically finished for 9 hours, 40 some minutes PST or at least a few more movies and a few more rounds of beverages) Christmas!

PS If a teeny teacher teacher leaves a dent in the couch, is it actually just a wrinkle?

  11. It's like a scene right out of Glee!! My boyfriend's watching the Laker game behind me and he chimes in "is that JB??" JB= Justin Beieber...I'm a little concerned...anyway I totally understood all the rapping bc I'm not an oldie like you ;) I hope you are enjoying your day! And yes, I enjoy emailing you and commenting at the same time...I'm in full stalker mode!

  12. I have no idea if it's a JB song...I don't really like the kid, and do my best to avoid him! lol But I do like the video!
And, P.S. - we don't mind if you post twice a day :) I sometimes have broken that rule...why is that a rule anyway?? what if we forget something UBER important we need to share?? like a video from our church?? hehe...

  16. Merry Christmas sweet Kristin! I am glad you got the $5 gift and I am very happy your blog pointed me in the right direction for me to have a blog make-over.

I live in the same town with my sister and nieces and think I would have a hole in my heart if I couldn't see them as much as I do.

  20. Having my peaceful Boxing Day party, lazing in bed with my laptop and new laptop pillow that I got for Christmas. Feel a bit sad, saw my brother for our annual visit and his 3 beautiuful kids, he is a bit antisocial so just see him a couple times of year, sometimes only at Christmas. Felt sad as we said goodbye, love them all. Feel I SHOULD cleanse today, ate 2 pillsbury cinnamon rolls yesterday...my husband's fav. quote about my cooking..."if Diane can't whack it out of a tube, she can't cook it ". Excuse me, I hosted the turkey dinner yesterday and although it stresses me because I do not enjoy cooking, it was quite tasty if I do say so ( and only the dinner rolls came out of a tube). Plan to relax, read and lounge in my jammies all day. Actually snuck in a jammie day on our last day at school and watched the Polar Express. 2 weeks off, hurray !!! Heading to the great US of A in 2 days for a visit and a little shopping, Texas Roadhouse, Chick Fil A holiday fun.
And I will confess here that I asked and received Justin B Christmas CD this holiday, much to the disgust of my husband and 17 year old daughter who loves me enough to go to the Mall and buy for it me although she was hugely embarrassed, I LOVE Mistletoe, my mid life crisis.....
    Enjoy the lazy you time......
