  29. I am so sorry! I know exactly how you are feeling right now. We lost of beloved ShihTzu on New Year's day. It is so hard when they leave us because they are so much a part of the family! I always thought I knew how people felt when they lost their pets until we lost Snickers! It looks like Snickers and Sydney were close in age. Snickers would have been 13 in April.
    I know you are heartbroken right now but know (from someone who recently experienced it)it does get better with time. Take care!! I am thinking of you!

  36. I am so sorry for you. You could tell through your blog how much you loved Sydney and how he was your child. We lost both of our dogs within 6 months of each other and last summer was awful. Over winter break we brought home a new puppy and it has made my heart start to feel full again. But while he is keeping me busy he certainly doesn't fill his big sisters paws. Please know I am hoping your heart heals.

  39. Oh, My Sweet Friend:
    Sydney was a big part of your life--and also a big part of your blog... Teeny Tiny Teacher with the Not-So-Tiny Dog... But I know one thing for sure: You went out of your way in big and small ways to spend extra quality time with Sydney and to care for that sweet doggie with armloads of love. (And I really believe that Sydney always appreciated the royal treatment. I can picture her running around heaven, with that "smiley" look that she had--even when she was sleeping. Hugs sent your way, Dear Kristin...

  77. Poem for Dog Lovers

    Hello. I've been expecting you for quite some time.
    Here, come sit beside us for awhile .
    and let me tell you about this old friend of mine.
    She might look tattered or maybe old
    But I won't say goodbye until you've been told.
    She had the brightest eyes I had ever seen,
    And wore a beautiful fur coat that would out shine a queen .
    She was never prissy but walked with an aire ......
    And oh so polite, you could take her most anywhere.
    She could run like the wind and could catch anything she chased
    But she protected and sat with me when I had problems to face.
    You could not find a friend nearly so dear.
    Because no matter the trouble she always stayed near...
    She has never asked for much from me;
    Just to love and respect her and I think you'll agree .
    To give her a good meal plus a nice warm bed is not much to ask ;
    When she has given me all her love and to her this was no task.
    Now I understand you have a schedule to keep.
    But I have a small favor before she nods off to sleep.
    Please fold your wings around her and let her feel young while in no pain ;
    Dear Guardian Angel of Pets ,
    please keep her safe and happy until I see her again.

    Ginger Patton

    So sorry for your loss - this is a pain as unique as the relationship we have with these lovely creatures.

  95. Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
    All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
    You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
    Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

    Dear Kristin, Im sorry that I've been enjoying your wonderful blog, for months, and have never commented to let you know how much I love reading it! Along with your motivating and inspirational ideas, its the "real-life" - "hold-no-punches"- hilarious stories that keep me coming back for more! There have been times when I've , literally, been sitting in front of my computer,(reading your posts) and laughing out loud so much that my family came running in to see what in the world "mom was laughing at????!!!" Today, tears replace the laughter. I am so, so sorry. Anyone who has ever had a dog to love understands how very sad it is to say good-bye. I know Sydney was your constant companion and your joy. I know your heart is broken. I am praying for you. I've attached a poem about Rainbow Bridge. My wish is that it offers a glimmer of hope and peace in the midst of the tears. God Bless Sydney.
