Hello there.
I am having a cup of coffee. Because I have a Keurig and I can.
I just wish I didn’t need the Cinnabon Creamer. But I do. So instead of eating the apple I was going to have for my snack, I am having Creamer with Coffee which, I believe, has the exact same number of calories.
Besides, it’s freezing cold out. Seriously. I think it’s in the fifties. It might snow.
Okay, so it won’t snow. But I think we have a wind chill factor going on. For real.
We had our Professional P—–(Well, I seriously can’t remember what the second P stands for) Time today with the entire staff. This used to be called PTT – Professional Teaching Time, but it was recently changed to PPT. Stop changing things on me and I might look like I know what I’m talking about. Right?
So we talked about DOK.
Do you know what DOK is?
I do. Now.
It’s Depth of Knowledge. It’s all about Bloom’s Taxonomy. But it’s not called Blooms anymore, either. Kind of like how forty is not really forty anymore. Forty is the new thirty, don’t ya know.
Thank goodness.
You can have your basic DOK1 but everyone who is everyone wants a DOK4.
DOK4 is all about getting your students to think on their own, come up with their own models and ideas, and basically just become college and career ready. It’s what I strive for on a daily basis so that I can sit back with my feet up on my desk while my kids become deep thinkers with their chins in their hands as they ponder this wondrous thing called life.
So, in an effort to continue to create Chin In Hand Thinkers (formerly known as FOTIRC –Finger On Temple In Rotating Circles), I’m sending my kids on their Impossible Mission tomorrow.
I blogged about this last year but, just in case you weren’t around then, I’m reminding you that I did it and it was so much fun and I can’t wait to do it again tomorrow. CANNOT WAIT.
I LOVE this idea! We are reading maps too! such timing! =)

We had inservice on DOK here in PA yesterday – it's everywhere! (cue creepy, suspenseful music!)
I love this mission idea! Though I think if I did it, I would definitely be worried about what sidetracked shenanigans the kids were getting into!

See? You can even make annoying unpleasant district things funny. It's a gift. I'm using you as my writing mentor. xo
I am a little jealous of your "freezing" weather….. The high today in Texas (or the part I am in) was all of 28 degrees. Yup. That is below freezing and it was the HIGH. BLEH!!!! Also it is the high for the foreseeable future. Or as far as the newsman predicts on the TV. Harumph……… Who wants to be outside or at work when it is like that? Not this girl. Love your cutesy idea, hopefully no one will get lost or seek OnStar to help them navigate your building ๐

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You are awesome! I totally remember reading about this last year and loving it! As it turns out that is our story for this week too! I am so doing this on Friday and I know my kids are going to LOVE it! Thanks so much, I can't wait!
