Well, it’s Fraturday. I’m back to posting on Fraturdays.
I couldn’t get this post up on the actual Friday because I was worn out.
Worn out, I said.
And it’s hard to blog when you’re asleep.
Here’s how my week went down:
from Left to Right
(and Nicole from Rowdy in Room 300 also came for Saturday/Sunday but had to leave early on Sunday for a 5 hour trip home — driving by herself.
I would never do that. She is BRAVE. I loved her.
Loved her accent.)
Love love love these girls!
I snuck off to Dallas last weekend. It was a complete whirlwind.
I have no clue why I didn’t tell you I was there when I was there. I even wrote my Link-Its post from my hotel room.
I don’t know. Sometimes, I am an enigma. And other times, I use big words like enigma. And then, other times, for no other reason than to keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat, I act like I am a Navy Seal and I can’t tell you what I really do or otherwise I will compromise my mission. Can you tell I just saw Lone Survivor? (Speaking of, it is so so so sad, I can’t stop thinking about it, but I do think it’s worth watching because it’s amazing what our military does for us, as well as this Afghan village that rescues the Navy Seal . . . but it is just gut wrenching to watch and I saw most of it with my hands over my eyes, peeking through my fingers.)
Anywho, back to the Trolley.
I went to Texas last weekend. I stayed with Kerry on Friday night and then she drove me through some crazy one-way-only streets to downtown Dallas to drop me off with some blogging friends.
We had a great time! We did a little shopping at Sam Moon, some coffee shop talking, some Galleria mall pretzel eating, manicures, out to eat at a Tex Mex place, a bar for . . . well, you know, and then breakfast and sight seeing on a trolley.
You might remember I went on a Wine Trolley a couple of years ago.
While this trolley was fun and I learned a little about Dallas, I have to tell you that no trolley holds a candle to the Wine Trolley.
I mean, let’s be real.
Then, Kerry picked me up Sunday evening and I spent the night with her again and got to see the kids and spend some more time with them before coming back late Monday.
Whirlwind, I tell you.
I have been playing catch up all week long.
The first week back from winter vacation was crazy. Of course.
So we learned about Martin Luther King, Jr. this week. That’s fine. It’s fine. I am not bothered by the fact that it was after the fact. It’s still learning. It’s still January.
I used almost every single thing in this pack from Lyndsey. She is amazing. Oh my word. Get this pack. It’s not too late. In fact, it’s still January.
ART SMARTS.
Yay!
I get one special per trimester and Thursday was my day.
Granted, we have to stay in the classroom, but still. I got one hour of prep! I started getting ready for Open House.
We usually have Open House at the very very very very very end of the school year. As in, two weeks before school is out.
This year, it’s in the middle of March.
I’m doing this theme again. So I’m mildly freaking out.
As I already stated, it’s still January so there is no need to panic quite yet.
Hello. My name is Murphie and you can’t have my toys.
Plus, I killed this chicken/rooster/feathered thing. I killed it dead.
Friday was the 100th day of school!!
Well . . . technically, this Monday is the 100th day of school, but who wants to celebrate on Monday?
Not me.
Plus, on Monday, I have computer lab.
And we are having an assembly.
And I have four student meetings to attend in the afternoon.
So there you go.
Add an extra tally mark when the kids aren’t looking and BOOM.
The 100th Day almost ALWAYS lands on a Friday in my room! It’s so weird, but it’s true! Sometimes, it lands on a Wednesday because Wednesdays are early release days, but whatever, the kids don’t really know. Not really. I’ve learned that when you’re making a crown, and stringing fruit loops and eating all the broken ones, not one child is going to question you about whether or not it really is the 100th day.
I think next year, though, I need to have a 120th day.
Yes, I’m Hard Core Common Core. Otherwise known as HCCC.
Today, the hubby and I are going to see a play at the Laguna Playhouse with my parents. And then we have reservations for dinner at Bru (blogged about that place before). So, I am EXCITED.
And that about does it.
How are you?
How was your week?
What are you doing this weekend?
Yes, I really want to know.

Sneaky girl! Hanging in TX and not telling! I am in Georgia for my cousin's wedding. It is WARM here (41 degrees) compared to -1 in PA. I have some Super Bowl, Olympics and Dental Health units to share if you are interested 🙂

I want to do the Fruit Loop necklace!!!! I just don't know how many Fruit Loops I'll need? Can you tell me how many boxes (or bag 'o' generic) it took?
Oh, and you had me at wine trolley, lol.

🙂 I used 4 generic 12.2 oz boxes for 30 kids. I had about a half box left over. I had a parent prep the strings — you want to tie one end off with a fruit loop and then put masking tape on the other end so the kids can easily string it. Then I put a bunch of fruit loops in individual ziplock baggies with the string inside. This prevents 30 strings from tangling right before you pass out, as well as cut down on germs! 🙂 My kids had to sort their fruit loops into ten groups of ten before stringing on a mat. Have fun!!!

I love Open House, but my school doesn't do it so I have to wait patiently for my daughter's Open House. I looked at your past themes and wowzers!!! How do you get that all set up??? It looks fantastic! I may have to sneak to your Open House! lol

Looks like you had a fun week! Our 100th day is Feb 3rd and I am starting to plan what we will be doing. Last year I let kids use beads to make the 100th day necklace and they loved it! I had some who wore them a few more times throughout the end of the year.
I had no voice by the end of the week so am just planning to chill and rest!
Have a great weekend!

You are just so smart! Love how your 100th day is "always" on Friday. Mine is next Thursday 🙁 Wish I would have looked ahead and figured that out ahead of time. Maybe we won't have time during calendar one day this week to change our days in school graph. Thanks for sharing how you organize the fruit loop necklaces, that should make it much easier. Looking forward to your talk about it Tuesday!

What a coincidence, our 100's Days were always on Friday as well! So sad I've moved to 2nd grade . . . they don't 'do' 100's Day.
