Happy Saturday to you!
I was off all week . . . it was absolutely amazing and, of course, it went by way too fast. And now, here we are, at the tail end of a three week vacation and I’m wondering what in the world happened to all my free time.
As you can see, Murphie also enjoyed my extra week of winter vacation.
If you use your imagination, that’s basically how I looked all week long, too. Except I was on the couch.
And, just in case you’re wondering, we crate trained Murphie during her first year and now she has the freedom to do whatever she wants when we’re not home (we have doggy doors). But Murphie loves loves loves her crate and goes in it all the time to hang out, sleep, store her toys, and hide bones.
It is actually extremely comfortable in there. Take my word for it.
This is horrible picture quality and, normally, I wouldn’t point it out, but . . . it is what it is and I got sick of trying not to be in the mirror image and/or the ceiling fan being reflected in it.
Maybe I should have taken a photography class with all the extra time I had this week . . .
Anyway, all of that is besides the point because . . .
THOSE ARE iPADS!
AND THEY’RE MINE!
AND I’M TAKING THEM TO SCHOOL!
AND I AM FREAKING OUT!
Steve got a mini iPad for Christmas so I took over his old iPad and I have the one that my class gave me a couple of years ago which makes TWO iPADS!
TWO iPADS!
I researched and researched and researched iPad covers and talked and talked and talked to people about it and got mine {HERE}.
I am really happy that they seem to be bullet proof, but that they also MATCH MY CLASSROOM DECOR!
Not that that’s the most important thing when it comes to protecting technology. It’s just a bonus.
I realize the most important thing is what in the world are my kids going to be doing on the iPads and whether or not two kids will share one iPad using a sand timer without arguing or bothering me while I am pulling small groups.
Feel free to leave some app suggestions in the comments if you want to recommend something to me! Seriously. Please leave me some suggestions.
AAAAHHH! I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!
Steve and I were going to go out to a really nice Mexican restaurant last night.
And then we got tired.
So we picked up some snacks instead.
And we watched more Friends.
We thought we might try getting out of the house tonight.
But it’s super cloudy and cold and it even sprinkled a bit on our walk with Murphie today. So . . . I don’t know.
This is my life. This is what I do. I make elaborate plans where I have to dress up and comb my hair, and then it seems like way too much effort of an effort so I just go to the store in yoga pants and a big sweatshirt instead.
Who’s with me?
I blogged about Jon’s birthday coming up {HERE}. This is just one last shameless plea to please send him some mail! I tried to make it really easy for you. ๐
Thank you!!
I finished my Advanced Plays this week so that’s saying something! I’m having a giveaway on my Facebook page right now so head over there if you’d like a chance to win a pack.
This is one of my favorite plays from the pack because the dog is all goofy and the cat is serious and sweet.
I had a crazy thought that I might do an entire pack of plays based on these two characters . . . in a Gerald and Piggie type of way.
Maybe.
I don’t know.
I can barely put real clothes on so who am I kidding?

When I read your play I immediately thought of Elephant and Piggie! They are my fave! I plan on having my whole class make birthday cards for Jon! They will love it and I'm most excited about telling them about it!

I love to stay home, too. We actually talked about going out to dinner tonight, but it was just too cold. So we made a yummy dinner. I went out to buy ice cream in polka-dotted, fuzzy Christmas socks that showed because my jeans are a little too short. Enjoy your last couple of days of vacation! I like you dog and kitty play. You should definitely make it a series.

Yoga pants and a long tunic sweatshirt are what I have been my at-home dress code all week long! I only taught two days out of five due to crazy cold and snow here!
I think your Dog and Cat ARE the next Elephant and Piggie……and they definitely need a Valentine's adventure that you will need to eat chocolate while writing, with Murphie next to you on the couch!

I took an awesome class here in PA last year – iPads in Education, and got an iPad with the class. Tons of neat ideas – if you have a lot of them. I did use it everyday, though! My first graders do Xtramath.org everyday to practice fluency..so the helper of the day gets to do theirs on the iPad. I also put the Spelling City app on it, so when they do that as a station, one kid gets to use the iPad. I also have listening center bags…and tried to find QR codes that link to stories online. One kid gets to do that, too. My project for the class involved using Evernote. I have to have my kids read a fluency passage each week. I hate it…it takes time, and they are only supposed to read for a minute..which I think defeats the whole purpose of reading. They never get to hear the end of the story. But, if I'm administering it, I don't have time to listen to 20 kids read a 4-5 or longer minute passage. Enter Evernote! They go in a corner, follow my direction sheet to go into the app and find their notebook (which I created for them), and they make an audio recording of the fluency passage. Then I go home and put on my comfy pants, plug in my earbuds and listen to their reading. I score it in their book while watching the timer on the top of their audio recording. Easy Peasy! Those are just a few of the ways I use my one iPad.

Your number three is my every single Friday. We always have fun plans to fun places that sound so great … until I walk though that door Friday after school and see that fabulous couch- and tv…
