GUESS WHAT?!
I’m officially on Spring Break!!! ๐
HOORAY!
Here’s a little snapshot of Life Lately.
A couple of weeks ago, Steve and I went to Coronado for a little mini vacay.
We met my parents on Saturday for lunch and then a play at the Lamb’s Players Theater. The play was called Chaps and it was a musical – really fun and upbeat! The actors and actresses are SO talented!
Then we walked to get gelato because hello? Gelato!
My parents left soon after, but Steve and I headed to our hotel. We sat out on the hotel’s patio and watched the sun set. It was GORGEOUS! We also had a couple of snacks because it was that in-between time of we ate a late lunch, had dessert, but now that it’s 8pm, we are kind of hungry for a cheese board and a big gigantic pretzel with yummy hot cheese dipping sauce. You understand what I mean by that in-between time, right?
We spent the rest of the weekend cheering on triathletes, eating yummy pasta at Il Fornaio, having a glass of wine at Wine a Bit, walking around, napping, people watching at the Hotel del Coronado, and ending it all with another cheese board on the hotel’s patio at sunset where we met Triathletes from Oklahoma. Which, if you don’t remember, I grew up in Oklahoma and I simply love Okies. ๐ฅฐ
The weather was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. It was such a great weekend!
Then I came home and worked and worked and worked on adding Listen and Learn {Subtraction from 10} to my store!
Thank goodness the whole Audio Boom Debacle has been resolved! It made it all worth it.
But after I worked on this Labor of Love, I got a Q/A in my store almost right away. Which meant my stomach started hurting, I felt a save of anxiety, and I thought no, no, no, no, no!
I was thinking the worst. I was thinking the Audio Boom Debacle had NOT been resolved, and this teacher couldn’t get it to work, and what was I going to do? I might as well as have put the back of my hand to my forehead and fainted straight away.
But you guys. It had nothing to do with Audio Boom.
I tend to get worked up over things that never end up happening. It’s a gift. You should be so lucky.
The Q/A was something that said, more or less: PLEASE MAKE A SUBTRACTION FROM 20.
Which, if I’m being my first grade teacher self, makes me want to reply THAT IS NOT A QUESTION. ๐ I also wanted to reply DO YOU KNOW YOU ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK? Even though you had no idea because you were actually being so sweet and supportive of this product line, but STILL. STILL!!!???!!!
Anyways, what I did reply was It’s on my list.
๐ So stay tuned!
I also just had Open House this past Thursday! Just to remind all of you, out here in California, we do not have an Open House or Meet the Teacher night BEFORE school begins back in August. Nope. AFTER school starts, usually four days in or so, we have a Back to School night which is super formal and no fun at all . In fact, the kids aren’t even supposed to come. We’re just supposed to go on and on about what we’re going to do all year long, and the expectations, and curriculum, and this and that.
Really, it’s just rather boring.
But in the Spring, and sometimes even two weeks before the end of the year, we have OPEN HOUSE. And Open House is FUN! I don’t have to present anything or give a speech or talk about curriculum because my kids are taking their families around the room and showing off all of their hard work! It’s FANTASTIC!
Most of the teachers at our school choose a “theme” and focus on that during the days leading up to Open House. First Grade’s theme has been Pioneers for the past few years, but we just mentioned switching it up next year so who knows?
My students use this tour guide to explore the room with their families.
I had a great turn-out and it was a wonderful night! I do have to say I’m glad it’s over, though. Even though the kids do all of the work, I still have to hang it up and make it all fit. ๐ You can check out {THIS POST} to see a bunch of pictures from a few years ago!
And that’s about it!! Life has been good and busy! My dad also turned 74 and we had dinner and ice cream cake at my sister’s house this week.
ALL GOOD THINGS!
Have a great weekend!! I hope you’re on break with me . . . but, if not, I’ll have an extra cup of hot coffee in your honor!
