Happy Sunday!
I’ve been having all sorts of fun with my family. Here’s a quick rundown.
1. My nieces did school work for me.
2. I got a pedicure for free.
3. Ashley graduated.
Wait. I think I already discussed all of that.
1. We went to the pool.
2. We ate.
3. We went to Hollywood. People recognized me instantly and I was mobbed.
4. Juuuusssst kidding.
5. We did go to Hollywood. Then we went to the USS or USA or SS Something of the Iowa ship from WWII. It was completely lost on me. That is a tour for another type of person. Mainly my brother-in-law and mom and dad.
6. We went shopping. I got a pair of gray Tom’s! Finally. Let’s hope they’re still in style.
7. We went shopping again. I got new jeans, shorts, tops, tanks, and two dresses.
That’s where you come in!
I have yet another Dress Debacle! And if you are a die-hard fashionista who only shops at Nordstroms and Bloomingdales, you should click out right now. Quick! Hurry!
If you are a bargain shopper, stay awhile. Relax.
I got this cute dress from Old Navy:

Do you have a yellow belt? A yellow belt and gold sandals (or brown) would be cute. Or the red belt with gold (or brown) sandals would be fine, too. Very nautical:) LOVE both dresses!

Clearly you need to buy red shoes. :). Seriously though, I have a pair and they go with so many things and always cheer me up.
Melanie says
I vote for red shoes, but not heels! Thanks for blogging! I enjoy you posts, both teacherly and bachelor/ette! You are too funny!
Miss~Jenn says
You should so do the red belt and red flats! I have patent leather red flats and one of my second grade boys told me they were glorious ๐ I had to agree!
K. Mo says
Someone beat me to it but I was going to say a yellow belt and neutral/brown sandals.

Red shoes!!! Not only will they cheer you up and feel like a million dollars, if you click your heels you can go home whenever you want ๐
PS I went to Old Navy yesterday, and it was a colossal failure! I decided they had fun house mirrors installed in their dressing rooms!!!

ALL of the ideas are wonderful, but the question is: Which one do you like best? That is what you should wear.
But since you asked, I prefer the red belt idea and then you can wear it with brown shoes. (The kiddos will NOT be looking at your feet.) If you can get red flats, great … but if not, the brown will be fine. Then the next time you can wear it with whilte. Then another time, yellow. What ever you like. I would vote no to a brown belt, but that is me.
Cute dress!!!
Love to you,
Camille

I say pair it with white or a color- not black or brown. Yellow, reds, and some greens would look adorable. Then I think you could even just stick to brown or white shoes. I don't think shoes and belt have to be the same color. But I'm not a fashionista so listen to others probably.

I would say either the red or white belt for sure but you definitely need to get yourself some red shoes!! They are very happy.
I will say that I also have been known to wear my pink sandals with navy but I'm not here to muddy the waters…I say go red and don't look back…

I love the yellow idea… but I'm also a fan of pairing that tan-ish/chestnut brown with everything…. ๐ also, do you think the dress has to have a belt? Maybe you could simplify by just doing some fun shoes? Either way, LOVE THAT DRESS!
Trish says
I have to admit, I am a bit of a clothes horse! I love clothes and funky shoes! What if you did a mint green belt? Mint is all the rage and it would look great with the little polka dot number! You could do brown sandals or any funky cute shoe! You don't need to match your shoe with your belt. Just my opinion. I like both dresses!
Miss Kindergarten says
White belt and white sandals. Go back to target ๐ I'll help you lol
Miss Kindergarten says
P.s. that dress is really cute!! I want it!
Wendy Arentz says
I think its time to buy some red ballet flats or flip flops. ๐
I also love, love, love navy paired with yellow or green.
The dress is so cute. What ever you decide, you will look adorable for sure. ๐

You really do need some red flats in your wardrobe! I love my Steve Madden flats from DSW (they come in lots of other colors as well). I always get lots of compliments on them, although my husband hates them for some reason?!? Maybe he thinks I look like a floozy in them? : )

I say red belt and you definitely need some red flats…oh wait! I do too!

Don't think I'm too boring, but wearing whatever you feel most comfortable in so you can focus on your adorable dress! ๐

Grey belt, grey toms, bright colourful earrings.

I must say I agree with the YELLOW, I love yellow and navy, so I guess you need a yellow belt.
Kristy says
I have to side with everybody that said RED BELT, and I LOVE the sandals JennyB at One Berry Blog showed you. Totally cute. You'd be happy every time you wore them!
Christi says
I think red, yellow , or even a hot pink belt would look so cute! I wouldn't worry about the shoes so much-any of those colors could pair with your pair of brown sandals (or you could get new shoes-that's what I'd do because it would seem like a good excuse to NEED new shoes). I also second what everyone else says-red shoes instantly make your day better. The nice thing about fashion right now is that nothing is too matchy-matchy, so almost anything goes.
cindyb says
I love lime green with navy!
Karen F. says
Honestly… Do you really need a belt at all?? I think its fine without one and as for shoes..I would go with either white, navy or a pink and if you dont have any of those colors… that means… MORE SHOPPING !! ๐
Thats just my take on this debacle….
Good Luck

I am so so excited to report that I too purchased that EXACT navy blue dress from Target. ๐ I plan on wearing mine for the 4th of July first with no belt and my cowboy boots. (I do love heels) I also have white flip flops that are a backup in case I indulge in a few too many adult beverages. It is the 4th of July after all, and for me that means beverages, cowboys, rodeos and a rodeo dance.
If you do not own any red shoes whatsoever this is the PERFECT excuse to purchase some. Every girl I know should have at least one pair, heeled or not, because there is something VERY magical about red shoes.
Happy hunting!!!!

My 18 year old daughter would say red belt with new red Toms (LOVE Toms!!. I say red belt and buy some red ballet flats. I bought some at Old Navy a while back but not sure if they still have them. Red shoes are very versatile, I wear mine with a black and white dress. Enjoy!
Robyn Beele says
I say red!! You could totally still wear it with brown sandals! Right?
kraftykathy says
I am a red shoe person so i of course say a red belt and red shoes. Navy is so versatile you could wear any bright color with it but not brown! I love my red shoes. They are sandals and so comfortable. Very cute dress though!!

I have that SAME blue dress from target!! we could be twinsieeees!
Jill Sloothaak says
I have that same dress from Target! Love it!! Target has great skinny belts in lots of colors — I pair it with this green belt
http://www.target.com/p/merona-color-skinny-belt-green/-/A-14143758#prodSlot=medium_1_39&term=belts
and a pair of nude sandals or flats.
Yellow would be super cute, too, I think.
And, YES, the pockets. LOVE a dress with pockets. Especially for teaching. It's a very good thing.
Have fun with it!!

Ok. Read all the comments and the choice is clear!!! More shopping which makes any girl happy and Otis a need not a want clearly because you want to work it the first day of school.
Of course I am from Florida so no matter what I wear I look like a puddle before I even finish carline!! ๐

I am a comfort girl and not so much a fashion girl (sade head shake). However, I think if you do red, you will look very patriotic. How about getting some cute blue & white shoes and wear a belt for that pop of red? The people who think kids don't look at your feet must not teach Firsties! ๐ They are the first ones to notice if I wear new/different shoes. Good luck with your fashion quest!

I also love the green idea. LOVE! Plus it's the Pantone color of the year. But the best news? You've got options baby!! By buying that ONE dress, you just made 3 outfits. Or however many belts you have. That's first grade thinking for ya!!
pammy says
I like all of your options but for a first day dress, I like the idea of a red belt. Then you could go with blue shoes, brown shoes, or get out there and find some fabulous red shoes. I never wear heels either. However, after reading the comments hot pink sounds good too. Looks like after all of this you might be more confused.
Reagan Tunstall says
Yellow would be my pick!

I'm just giggling at your post! ๐ You are too funny. I love your positive spin on an on-so-common dilemma! ๐ I think I would go either the red sandals and belt….or stick with a brown belt and sandals…and then pick up a few color poppin' fun light scarves so you can mix and match it up! ๐
