Well, good morning to you. I’m a little groggy. Just a tad.
I fell asleep on the couch last night before ten and then I accidentally woke up at 9:30am today. Oops. So much for the early bird catches the worm and all that. I haven’t caught anything except a cup of coffee and quite possibly a cold that I am pretending I do not have along with a nasty sore throat that has still not gone away.
But I am not complaining. Nope. Just informing. You know, in the interest of I always tell you everything and I’m sure you needed to know and if you feel like bringing me some hot soup and/or a box of See’s candy, that would be lovely.
Now I will try to wake up a little more and tell you all about my week.
On Saturday I went to a baby shower for a good friend of mine. Have you noticed that all of my friends are having babies? They are. This is because all of my friends are younger than me. I have an age requirement, apparently. Either that, or I am just older than every single person ever.
So anyways, she was registered at Buy Buy Baby and I don’t have one close to me. And I also had to present at a conference and battle nervous tummy issues, as well as prepare for Open House so I just ordered her gift online AND PAID EXTRA TO HAVE IT WRAPPED.
And then it never came.
In other words, I went to my friend’s baby shower with no gift. Just a card and that’s all.
Because that’s special. Because that makes me look good. Because that’s how I roll.
I did bring her a card with a print out of the tracking information that said her gift was stuck in GEORGIA due to severe weather. Even though I could have driven 45 minutes south of me and picked up her present in a real actual store.
People, this is my life.
This is what happens to me.
I now have the gift. It finally came. And we can’t organize a way for me to get it to her and since I have a deathly irrational fear of shipping it to her, I think I am really going to enjoy taking a bath in this wonderful thing. Along with the washcloths and towels I got.

I had nothing picked out, bought, shopped for, any idea of what I was going to wear to Open House. And then I found this dress in my closet with the tag still on it. It’s from two summers ago from Target.
The tag said it was $24.99.
Look how I styled it.
Then, I texted a few people to make sure it was okay how I styled it because I am not a stylist. Of any kind. And I needed to make sure that I didn’t have to go buy anything because this was on Wednesday and Open House was on Thursday.
Anywho, it was approved and so I wore it. And everyone wanted to know where I got the dress. So I said Bloomingdales, of course.
Have I mentioned that I had Open House this week?
I did!
Usually, I fill my whiteboard up with pics from our year, but Open House came so early! I don’t have as many events as I normally do and I thought it would look sad. I felt like my kids were not in enough party pictures with crowns on their heads. It was a travesty. Pictures with parties and crowns on our heads is what first grade is all about. Duh.
So I “whipped up” this banner. Whipped up means I printed it, laminated it, cut it out (19 pieces!), and then realized it was too small. So I drove home, resized it, printed it again, laminated it again, cut it out again (19 pieces!) and drove back to school to put it together on the ribbon. As a matter of fact, I figured out my dress situation while it was printing for the second time.
Then one of my teammies found the cute cow/horse/whatever you want to call it on a party favor bag on Pinterest somewhere (and I do not have the link or original source because I did not find it so I apologize for that and please do not tell on me or report me to the Pinterest/Blog/Original Idea police) and we made those at the very last minute to fill in all that white space.
I’m kinda thinking pics from our year might have been easier, even with the lack of crowns, but whatever. Ho hum.
I am a nut. And a whackadoodle.
Say what?!
Tis true. We are babysitting my hubby’s aunt’s dog this weekend. She is an Australian Shepherd named Dakota. Murphie was letting her know that “This is MY crate. I may never go in here and I don’t use it that often, but YOU can’t have it. Also, don’t touch any of my toys or sit too close to my mom.”
They seem to be getting along most of the time, but both would like to be top dog.
Neither have any clue that I am the top dog.
I am.
Yeah, okay, I’m not.
St. Patrick’s Day is this Monday.
That really snuck up on me.
It’s also our last week before Spring Break.
That did not sneak up on me. I have a countdown going, as we all know.
So I have pulled out some fun stuff for my kiddos this week!
First, Cupcake’s leprechaun art project:
Next, some Write the Room activities from Marsha.
And last, I am *finally* giving my students the Spring plays that I have been promising them.
I will use both packs because I have some kiddos that need the easier ones in order to be successful.
And that’s about it. I’m a little more awake now. Pretty much. I think.

I love the gift you bought- go ahead use it 🙂 I'm jealous a bit that you have Open House out of the way (but I would have been majorly stressed with it this early!).
