Happy Saturday!
I get a four day weekend! FOUR DAYS! We are getting Monday and Tuesday in honor of Veteran’s Day. And believe me, I’m not missing the fact that I get time off because others have sacrificed their time for me. I am so so thankful.
And happy.
Oh my word.
Look at us. We are big dorks.
We had a Halloween party last Saturday night. If you think back to last Saturday night, it was November 1st. As in, the day after Halloween. So it was a little anti-climatic and not something I really wanted to do at all because dressing up for Halloween is never a priority of mine. The candy is, but not the costumes. Ever.
I had overalls in a bag in my closet that I’d bought over a year ago thinking that I would dress up as the mouse from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie for a spirit day we were having. And then my Party Pooper-ness kicked in and I just ended up wearing a spirit t-shirt instead. And then I never returned the overalls because my I’m So Lazy-ness kicked in.
Steve bought overalls in anticipation of his BBQ class and then changed his mind at the last minute and didn’t wear them (thank goodness – I mean, really?) so we both had overalls.
And I will not confirm nor deny that I am wearing one of Murphie’s bandanas from when she was groomed. But, if I was wearing one of Murphie’s bandanas, then rest assured that I washed it.
But I’m not confirming nor denying anything.
Target.
Get it.
Get it NOW.
You’re welcome.
Last night, I had the girls over for a Girls Night In. And Steve went out of town for the night which meant that I had to turn the fire pit on all by myself.
We’ve lived here for 15 years and I’ve never turned it on. Ever. With or without supervision.
I stay away from fire.
I like my hair.
And my skin.
So I’m pretty gun shy when it comes to turning the gas on and then lighting a match. Or using the “clicker” that probably has an actual name but I just call it the clicker. Gas, fire . . . um, yeah, no thanks.
Steve gave me a lesson the night before . . . and I am proud to say that I lit the fire all by my lonesome.
And I still have my hair and skin. And house. So that’s good. And yes, I realize I am old and should have been doing this forever, but hey, I’m just being honest.
I meant to take a picture of us girls having wine and snacks . . . but there was so much chit chat and laughter that I completely forgot.
I was just living life.
I love my girls!
Murphie is sleeping sitting up.
It is due in part to the fact that she went to daycare yesterday. Yes. I said daycare. She goes about twice a week and runs and plays and chases ball and spends almost all of her time outside (the only place she’d rather be besides the couch) with other dog friends. She comes home exhausted every time and pretty much sleeps until the next day.
But, because I had the girls over last night, she never went to sleep. Ever. She stayed outside with us all night hoping someone would kick the ball. We did. But not as much as she would have liked.
Murphie and I slept in and then I took her on a super long walk. We were gone for about an hour.
Now I’m wondering if she is broken.
I’m working on a Holiday version of my Reader’s Theater for Kinder Kids . . . my struggling readers love love love the fall edition and its really helping them gain confidence in their reading.
I can’t wait to show them these!
I have high hopes of finishing them up today.
We’ll see how it goes.
I might nap with Murphie first . . .
When I read about Murphie in your introduction, I pictured a small, cute dog. I guess I was wrong, she's BIG and beautiful. She looks very gentle in the picture. I think you and your husband look great in the overalls. Plus, I love that you wore the dog's bandana. You used what was available!
I am so going to Target tomorrow! Thank you for the tip! Murphie is so cute, my dog used to go to daycare before it closed and he loved it too! I've never tried your readers theaters before, but maybe it will motivate my struggling readers. I'll take a look. 🙂
Murphie is a doll! Can't wait for the next set of Reader's Theaters- my kids love them!
