Happy Saturday!
I have a little reading group that keeps me up at night. The students in this group struggle. I worry about them constantly and feel panicked that we only have seven more weeks together. Can anyone relate to this? I mean, I feel like I should be able to take a shower and think of nothing except the warm water and know, without a doubt, that I already put conditioner in my hair, but nope . . . I think about these kids and ideas for intervention, and I inevitably end up questioning whether or not I already did put conditioner in my hair.
But this week, after reading a book about a hamburger, (this is my bun, this is my lettuce, this is my ketchup, etc) we used the pattern for writing our own sentences and these kids couldn’t get enough. They didn’t want to stop, they wanted to read their sentences to each other . . . it doesn’t look like much (especially for the end of first grade), but the progress these kids have made blows me away! Their confidence and enthusiasm is totally catching.
Anyways, they asked me to take a picture of their sentences so there you go!
By the way, some of the cards from my Write the Room {Rhyming Edition} were hanging up by our reading group table which is where one of the kiddos found the words “tooth” and “foot”. I love that she used the print from around the room to help her and that the cards have picture clues! 🙂
This cracked me up!!!!
The last word says chemicals in case you didn’t know! Ha! One of my students wrote this down while he was in speech and the speech teacher shared it at his IEP meeting. I said I need to take a picture of this!!
One of the girls I used to work with told me all the time that Diet Coke has so many chemicals and why would I drink it? And I always replied, because chemicals taste delicious, that’s why.
🙂
And, anyways, now I drink Coke Zero. And surely the Zero stands for zero chemicals, right? 😉
Murphie needs a vacation from her vacation, too. While we were in Mexico, she spent the week at Steve’s aunt’s house. They have a dog named Dakota (we watch her when they travel) and Murphie and Dakota are fast friends. They play all day long.
Murphie slept for about three days after we picked her up.
I love when she twists her head. I don’t know why, but it’s something she has done since she was a puppy and when she’s sleeping in this pose, she is out. And awfully cute, too. 😉
I finally saw this last night.
Let me preface this by saying I was not interested in seeing it.
Because I would rather watch reality TV or Footloose or It’s Complicated.
Steve watched this on the plane on the way home from Mexico, and told me how good it was. How he was pleasantly surprised (he had heard mixed reviews) and that he really liked it. Then, every night this week, he asked me if I wanted to watch it. And I said I can’t watch a movie during the week! I will fall asleep! Plus I have the Housewives to watch! And Survivor! And Teen Mom 2! And Vanderpump! I am busy, I tell you!
As you can see from the shows that I watch, I am an intellectual and have nothing to be ashamed of.
Well, Steve is really good about watching romantic comedies with me (he loves them, actually) so I finally gave in and sat down to watch it last night.
It was good.
Really good.
I enjoyed it and I didn’t fall asleep.
And I imagine I earned points with Steve if Steve were keeping track of points.
So I’m hearing that when I switched from Blogger to Word Press, many of you stopped receiving email notifications when I publish a new post. So then you subscribed again, and you’re still not receiving email notifications.
And you’re sad.
Which, if I’m being honest, makes me feel happy because wow! You’re sad that you’re not hearing from me! Wow! That’s so nice! Who knew???!! Yay! I get this is not a normal reaction, but it is honest.
I’m trying to figure out what the heck is happening with that and I hope to have it resolved very quickly. I’m sorry that it’s happening and I hope you will hang in there with me! Thanks for wanting to read what I write.
Have a great weekend!

Fortunately for me, I AM getting email notifications about your posts. I’ve seen all the Star Wars movies except that one. We’ll be watching it soon, I think.

I am one of those sad people who stopped receiving emails when you have a new post… I’ve tried twice already to sign up again via email; tonight makes try #3! I hope “third time’s a charm!” 🙂
