I have been on vacation for a week.
So I almost have absolutely nothing to talk about.
I said *almost*.
😉
I’ve mostly been watching Gilmore Girls.
I have never watched it.
Ever.
And then, at Thanksgiving, when the whole world was going on and on about the new four-part series and how excited they were, and how some Starbucks turned into Luke’s diner, I was like I think I know what I’m doing over break.
Steve, of course, said this was a show that I could watch on my own, that he wasn’t interested in it at all.
HOWEVER.
He seems to be laughing in all the right places and getting really annoyed with this Jess dude so I think he’s watching on the sly.
But the biggest thing for you to know is that I’m just sitting there, on the couch, WATCHING it. Most of the time, when I tell you all I’m being lazy and watching reality TV, and making a dent in the couch, I’m really just exaggerating. Because I’m usually grading papers, sorting papers, stapling papers, cutting out laminate, gluing something, prepping something, printing something, changing the paper in the printer from copy paper to card stock to labels to colored card stock, cutting something, hole punching something . . . or I’ve got my laptop on my lap and I’m creating something, searching for something, reading something, etc. And when I’m caught up on all of that, then I’m usually wiping the counters in the kitchen or unloading the dishwasher or paying bills, etc.
I’m just doing it all while a show is on in the background.
Steve is constantly telling me to relax. He is constantly asking me why I have to always be doing something.
Well.
This week, I’ve done NOTHING.
Seriously.
I don’t even recognize myself.
I have slept and watched Gilmore Girls and eaten food and that’s about it.
It is HEAVEN.
I’m embarrassed to say what season I’m on so I’m just going to say I’ve finished Season One.
🙂
Okay, I still do have Murphie and she tends to be a little demanding during her awake times.
So I have taken her on walks and played ball with her in the backyard.
I took this picture on one of our walks because I was like wow. Winter in California.
And it is winter.
It’s been in the 50s mostly.
And we have had a lot of rain which has really helped with the whole binge watching Gilmore Girls thing.
One other day this week, I caught a 24 hour bug. It came from out of nowhere!
OUT OF NOWHERE, I said.
One minute, I was saying to Steve the writers of the Gilmore Girls are brilliant people! Aren’t they brilliant? and the next thing I knew, I was saying I don’t feel good. I’m hot, I’m cold, my back and shoulders hurt, do I have a fever?
And while we don’t have a thermometer in this house, I am pretty sure I had a fever.
I went to bed super early and then pretty much slept the day away the following day. I had lunch plans with a girlfriend and I had to cancel. 🙁 You know I’m sick if I cancel any sort of lunch/dinner/food plans with a friend.
Then . . . around exactly 24 hours later, I started feeling better.
It was almost like snapping your fingers.
Boom.
I felt better so I asked Steve to make me a cheese quesadilla.
That’s when he knew I was better, too.
🙂
Another day, Steve and I ventured out to an outdoor shopping mall far away from here to have lunch and see the new Star Wars movie.
And the day we picked to do this decided to be a day of rain.
It was okay, though, because I wore my Hunter boots again and have officially decided that I’ve worn them enough times this year to offset their cost. I have now paid for them in full.
The food was GREAT (Brio) and the movie was good, too.
I was confused here and there.
But it was good.
I didn’t think it warranted a round of applause by the movie theater audience at the end, but that’s what happened. I’m happy to report that Steve did not start the clapping so there’s that.
And now today is Christmas Eve.
I have some wrapping to do (I like to procrastinate) and then Steve and I are off to his family’s to celebrate. It is a tradition in his family to eat Mexican food every Christmas Eve so he’s making enchiladas and taco meat, and I’ll be doing my part by eating all the chips, salsa, and guacamole! 🙂 Tomorrow, we will be with my family!! 🙂
But first: church.
To remember the real reason for the season.
I am so grateful to God who sent a Savior for all of us.
Merry Christmas Eve!

I’ve been off for a week as well but the movies/couch relaxation were put on hold for dr appts & 2 days of jury duty. Yesterday was my day to be a lump so today I am last-minute wrapping and trying to remember where I put that one gift (it’s in a ‘safe’ place, wish I knew where that is).
I am in the IE and am loving the rain, especially at night. The sound is so soothing and makes my normally up-at-the crack-of-dawn kiddo sleep late.
Glad you’re feeling better and I hope you and your family have a beautiful & merry Christmas!

GILMORE GIRLS!
I was turned on to this series by my boyfriend of seven years about three years ago (he owned all of the DVDs before it was put on Netflix. Apparently, he watched it everyday after high school…obsession is an understatement). We SLOWLY worked our way through the first six seasons because I didn’t want it to end, and then when we were finally on the seventh season the revival was announced. SO, we sped through season seven (isn’t top notch) and then sat and did literally NOTHING the weekend the revival came. We watched, read blog posts, and discussed our theories. I’m so jealous you’re just getting into it.
TEAM JESS! 😉

I love this post, too. I’m on season 7 because we are on snow day 8! Ugh. Now I have to finish GG before I go back to school.
