Well, my sister leaves today.

I am sad.
But!
I am going to Texas in two weeks for a quick weekend get-away so that will make the whole “She Is Leaving Me She Just Got Here Why Does Time Go By So Fast” process a lot easier.
In the meantime, I am having a little Happy New Year to You sale in my store.

I also had some time to work on my new Pin It! pack.
But Pin It! is such a short title, don’t you think?
So I stretched it and made it Pin It! Word Families Edition {short vowels} because I just love a long title, don’t you?

Pinning (of the non-Pinterest variety — I know, I’m just as surprised as you that there is such a thing) is one of the all time favorite activities in my room.
My kids like it, too.
Did I mention it’s also a quiet activity?
It is.  I don’t get it, but it is.
(Well, it might be because they are using a pushpin and I make them say a Pledge of Allegiance to Safety and put the fear of my teeny tiny wrath into their teeny tiny little heads.)
Case in point:
And that’s true.  I have never had an issue with the pushpins.  And I’m old.  And I’ve been doing this with my class since the dawning of time.
Staple the word family list you need to any color of construction paper (or differentiate for your students with multiple lists).
Students lie on the carpet and pin away.  Quietly.  You are so welcome.  Don’t mention it.

And look!

Magic!

Have the kids read their list to each other, to you, to an upper grade student, or to a parent volunteer.
We just love it in our classroom.  We have been using my Sight Word Edition for awhile now, and since we are beginning long vowels in our curriculum, I felt a short vowel review was just the thing for when we return.
Just the thing.
Well, along with coffee and candy, and maybe a few tears.  One can never predict these things, you know.

    Also, so my students LOVE your winter edition plays, especially the "Time for Bed." I think everyday someone reads it out loud, so much so that next week it might get lost for a few days. 😉 Today, two boys read it and they were falling over and stomping their feet, and were definitely VERY into it! Thanks for those wonderful additions to my class! 🙂

    This is brilliant! Let me get right to the POINT….I can't think of a better way to PUSH my little snowflakes into the new year that with this activity that will help those sight words really STICK with them! This is great for my "HOLE" (please read that as "whole"!) group! Thank you!!

      Never mind on the videos…there seem to be a couple that they switch out and only the first one I saw was "PG13" if ya know what I mean lol. The others aren't too bad.
