Well.
I went back to school this week and it was like I never left.
Spring Break?
Um.
No.
You mean Spring A Minute or Two.
Talk about FLYING BY. Talk about ZOOMING BY AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT.
Here’s what I know.
Thursday before break was our Open House, as I already told you. But what I DIDN’T tell you was that I got sick the night before. It came from out of nowhere.
To put it plain as day . . . I was at my sister’s on Wednesday night, celebrating my dad’s birthday, and the next thing I knew, I was getting ready for bed and could barely move. I was so achy. Not to be dramatic or anything (eyeroll) but I didn’t even want my pajamas or the duvet to touch me. THAT KIND OF ACHY. Is that a touch dramatic or do you get what I am saying when I say I FELT ACHY.
I went to school all day on Thursday BECAUSE HELLO? OPEN HOUSE. There was last minute stuff to do. I HAD to go. My mom said this “attitude of feeling like I HAVE to go to school” is going to change when I am older. I thought I already WAS older, but maybe she means next week or next month or next year. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
We went to the computer lab that Thursday afternoon and, once my kids were all logged in, and all were on task, I sat down at a table. I rested my head on my arms for just a second only to hop up RIGHT AWAY because YOU GUYS!
I almost fell asleep! Like within ONE MINUTE!
It scared the living daylights out of me!!
Would any of you come to bail me out of jail for being arrested for taking a nap WHILST ON THE JOB? THE JOB OF TEACHING LIVE, HUMAN CHILDREN?! What would you have said if you had seen A TEENY TINY TEACHER FALLS ASLEEP DURING COMPUTER LAB AND IS NOW IN CUSTODY AT THE COUNTY JAIL UNTIL HER TRIAL BEGINS on the news?
I mean. GEESH. I jumped up so quick and walked around for the rest of the time because I happen to like my career, and would like to keep it, and if I’m going to be on the news, I want it to be because of something like A TEENY TINY TEACHER SHARES DELICIOUS NEW CHOCOLATE RECIPE THAT BURNS CALORIES AND MAKES YOU LOOK AMAZING IN YOUR SKINNY JEANS AND BONUS: THE SKINNY JEANS FEEL COMFORTABLE AND IT’S LIKE YOU’RE WEARING PAJAMAS.
So anywho . . . all of that is to say that I was sick, made it through the day, made it through Open House, made it through Friday . . . and then celebrated the first three days of Spring Break by NOT LEAVING THE HOUSE WHATSOEVER AT ALL.
Hello. My name is Kristin and I am a homebody.
Plus, I was sick.
So it was justified. Steve kept me alive by going out and getting food when I needed it.
On Wednesday, Kerry came for a visit! ๐
ALL BY HERSELF. Of course, I missed seeing my niece and nephews, but . . . one on one time with Kerry is also good for my soul. ๐
I spent the rest of the week at my parents’ house with her. We had the BEST time!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I absolutely LOVE staying at my parents’ house. My mom and dad make me so happy, and we laugh and laugh, and talk and talk, and then there are long moments of complete silence when we are all on our own electronic devices doing who knows what. Most of us are reading a book, but some of us are working on school stuff, or TpT stuff, and others of us are on social media telling us that Facebook said that this politician said this or that and do we agree?
My mom made her famous chicken salad for sandwiches, she made a lasagna, my dad picked up Krispy Kreme donuts, we ate at the Olive Garden and Outback, we had Firehouse Subs, we went to the movies and had popcorn and LOTS OF CANDY (my mom knows how to buy good candy) . . . we went on long walks, we went on short walks, we sat outside, we watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune every night (I never watch these shows at home, but when I’m at my parents’ house, I’m totally into them) , we sat around, we rested . . .
See what I mean when I say I thought I already was older?
It was just simply relaxing, and refreshing, and amazing.
My iWatch told me IT’S TIME TO STAND every single day more than once. It never tells me to do that on a normal day.
I call that a successful Spring Break, don’t you?
The only trouble with it is that it just went by way too fast, as it always does, as it always will . . .
And now here we are.
We’ve got 36 1/2 school days left and I’m pretty sure they’re going to fly by, too.
HOLD ON TIGHT!!
Have a great weekend!!
