What I’ve Been Up To

I am on Thanksgiving Break!  We get the whole week!  Do you hear the angels singing?

Not only that, but it started with a Girls Night Out on Friday after school.  We had tickets to the 4:00 showing of Breaking Dawn Part 2 The Saga Continues And Then It’s Over Forever So Let’s All Cry At The End.  

I am not a crazy obsessed fan with a matching T-shirt, but I did buy my ticket ahead of time along with my Milk Duds.  I would have pre-ordered the popcorn, but I couldn’t find that feature.

The movie was great.  I don’t know if it will win any awards, but our theater audience was big on spantaneous clapping, and laughter, and tears, and whooping so I’d call it a success.

After the movie, we went out to eat.  I mean, really – the milk duds, popcorn, and soda were just the appetizer.  And it’s not like I ate a whole meal at dinner.  A friend and I shared mozzarella sticks
 and some kind of egg roll situation and that’s all.  

And, no, I didn’t share my wine.  That’s where I draw the line.

THEN . . . Saturday was a whatever kind of day.  Plus church.

And Sunday was a baby shower.

But this, my friends, was not your normal baby shower.

THIS was brunch.  At a restaurant.

No silly games or hats or toilet paper involved.  Just food, mimosas, and good people.  

Brunch is usually lost on me since I don’t like breakfast (for those of you who remember), but they had pizza and pasta and dessert and bread and crackers and all manner of carbs available.

In other words, I felt pretty full and sick to my stomach within an hour or so.  And then I was obligated to eat cake, obviously.

It was WONDERFUL.  I highly recommend you invite me to that kind of a baby shower – I will get you a really good gift, I promise.

Today I’ve been catching up on TV  lounging  laundry and bills and the dishwasher-removal-of-dishes-that-I-can’t-stand and re-vamping my Antonym cards, as well as adding Synonym cards.

By the way, can you say synonym?  Because when I say it, it comes out as cinnamon.

    At my baby shower, my sister served fajitas & margaritas…I had water. But, everyone who came said it was by far the BEST baby shower they had ever been to:)) It was fabu!

    I love that DJ Inkers finally wised up and started selling licenses so that you could continue to make really great and cute packets as freebies and for TPT, especially now that I am also teaching 1st grade and I have most of her cute clipart but don't know how to use it but I can still use cute and motivating learning materials because of you!! Thank you!!

    And I am also loving the whole week off at Thanksgiving thing. heehee!!

    Thanks for the idea of the table captains, it worked like a charm. I assigned places in line this year because last year I had a sibling who was a stampeder. Those two things have saved my sanity . I would love the synonym antonym pack. I have the week off as well.

    I am new to the blog "stalking" world. I had no idea there were so many blogs out there and so many wonderful freebies. I feel like I have been living under a rock but in my defense I teach 1st grade Dual language (Spanish/English) and have 3 kids of my own- 2 teenage boys and a 3 year old, so I really dont have time to be on the computer unless its 10 at night and everyone is asleep. I found your blog a day after Halloween and read your Halloween story, could not stop laughing and had to share your story with everyone I know. Your stories are so funny and it amazes me how alike all teachers stories are no matter where we teach (well maybe not the finger story):) Love your blog and really like all the freebies. Have a great Thanksgiving and can't wait to hear how you spent it and what funny thing happened to you.

    Oh my gosh Kristin, I love the synonym and antonym cards!!!! I want them and need them. I'm buying them on Monday!!! They are wonderful!!!

    BTW I have a blinged out "Bella" T-shirt. I had it made along with Team Edward, Team Jacob, Mrs. Cullen, and I run with the Pack shirts for a few teachers at school. What can I say??? Go big or go home. Right?

    Holy Moly, the ending of the movie…. I was breathless. I saw the movie with the teacher peeps and every 12 year old in the tri city area at the 10 pm Thursday night showing. There was booing, screaming, gasping, and the rest of the audience was joining me. It was HEAVEN!

    These are awesome!!! I don't have trouble saying the word "synonym", but I struggle with the word "leash". Don't know why, but I do.

    I'm a little jealous that you have the whole week off- but I only have one more work day this week so I *think* I can handle it. It's the four SOLID weeks when we come back that worry me!! And it could be worse- my friend who teaches in nearby (20 miles away) Georgia has the whole week off- Monday and Tuesday are just two of his TWELVE furlough days- yikes!!

    I'm thankful for wonderful blogs like yours- y'all offer so much to the rest of us. Thanks! Needless to say- I would love to win a set of your great antonym/synonym cards:-)

    Hey Kristin!
    I teach my kids to remember what synonyms and antonyms mean by thinking about the letter those words start with.

    Antonym starts with a vowel just like the word opposite does. So remember that an antonym is the opposite.

    Synonym starts with an s so remember that a synonym means the same thing.

    I would love to win this. Gotta love those DJ Inker graphics!

    I too am loving the week off…whoo-hoo! I'm a milk dud kind of girl too….LOL had to share that. So if we hook up at another bloggy meet up and go to the movies we can sit together.     I teach Pre-K and the pictures are a perfect way to introduce these concepts! Very colorful and eye-catching! We are off Thu. & Fri…..tomorrow the 4 Pre-K classes are having our Thanksgiving celebration….should be a fun-filled day!
