Wow Writing!

HaPpY Wednesday – which will be Thursday most likely by the time you read this because it’s super late here. I am not a night owl by any means and you all know how much I love my sleep, but things just keep getting in the way this week.

Things like school and dinner and facebook and the Beverly Hills Housewives.

We are This.Close to spring break. And then we will be off for two glorious weeks. GLORIOUS, I tell you. I just have to get there first. It is not an insurmountable mountain in the least. Nope. It’s all good. Do you like my mantra?

With that being said, I ~~didn’t feel like~~ ~~didn’t want to~~ thought we should reinforce our adjectives lesson from the week before.

Yep. Adjectives. Finally.

We are EXPERTS in nouns and verbs. EXPERTS.

But Adjectives? Well . . . we’re learning.

I used my adjective cards from my Parts of Speech pack last week. The kids loved them. I have to say that I like them, too, because I made them. And, yes, I am tooting my own horn. Toot toot. (The tooting is also a little bit of foreshadowing. Wait for it.)

We worked on describing the noun.

“The silly boy stood on his head in the classroom because he

had ants in his pants like usual.”

“The ladybug had six spots and when the girl tried

to count them, she accidentally squished it dead.”

“My friend had a sweet lollipop so I took it from her

and then she told on me.”

“My puppy, Murphie, likes to chew on stinky socks.”

It was fun.

But today was better.

We used Kelley’s pack from The Teacher Idea Factory called “Wow vs. Blah Sentences”. Kelley is my friend. Kelley is brilliant. You can read all about it {here}.

It’s FANTASTIC. Not only did we reinforce adjectives, we worked on writing.

Done.

And it was fun. The kids were ALL OVER IT.

(Why the curriculum cops couldn’t come in during this time instead of while I was asking a student if he ate his glue stick, I’ll never know.)

Surely there’s no way she saw me do that, right?

It was an accident.

She used her lunch box for inspiration.

Seriously.

I saw it in her lap and thought she must be

daydreaming and counting down the minutes

until lunch time because she must have had

something yummy in there.

The cat sat on a fart.

Toot Toot!

I don’t see an adjective – do you?

And could that really happen?

I don’t understand.

I’m old.

And tired.

Toot Toot!

That Kelley IS a genius and I love that pack! Our class is still waiting to make the bulletin board with their WOW vs. Blah faces!

I've chosen to ignore that you have 2 weeks cuz it makes my way off in the distance ONE week that I was ALL excited about seem |thisshort| and I don't like that.

Did ya ask the fart author HOW exactly that happens? I LOVE the purple cabbage, super creative, must be wonderfully talented, girl. Too cute.

Cracking up! How do farts, poop, etc. always make it into conversations-and now writings! Our own boys would be giddy and struggling to contain their laughter. That's good stuff girl!

I love her pack! I used it in the beginning of the year this year – I think it'll become a staple for each beginning of year for me (in 2nd grade anyway – ha!)

We had a baby shower this week too for our music teacher, who is a man:) He was so surpised!!

I just pulled Kelli's unit back out for a little review because our writing was getting…well…BLAH!!
