Sunday!
I made it.
I can tell you (after the fact) that my hubs has been out of town since last Sunday morning. I have been on my own with little miss Murphie and I’m one tired chick. I don’t know how anyone ever does it on their own with real, human, live children. Seriously. How do you do it???
Anywho, hubby comes home tonight and I am looking forward to a good night’s sleep, I can tell you that. Normally, I’m afraid of the dark and scary, boogie men when he’s out of town, and I have to sing Jesus Loves Me and Go Tell It On The Mountain and You Build Me Up Buttercup over and over until I fall asleep. But not this week. Murphie wore me out.
But I wuv her so it’s okay.
Today, my brother and his puppy came back over for another play date so now I’m free as a bird as Murphie snoozes away next to me. Gotta love puppy play dates.
SO!!
Yesterday I went to my friend, Natalie’s, baby shower. And her mother-in-law is a teacher and so Natalie casually told her about my blog a long time ago. And she reads it. A lot, apparently.
I guess you could say she was excited to meet me.
Along with her teammates.
I walked in and all I heard was, “Are you THE TEENY TINY TEACHER?!”
Dang. I should have worn heels. They might not ever have known.
Well . . . I said, yes, I was. In a sheephish, humble manner, I hope.
Toni is Natalie’s mother-in-law. She is sweet and nice and has a beautiful home filled with William Sonoma croissants fresh out of the oven. I wonder if she’s adopting??
Toni’s shared contract partner is Maureen. She’s tall. And she wore heels. So that didn’t help matters. But she’s just wonderful and lovely and funny and not at all as old as she thinks she is. Maureen reads my posts to her husband. Really. I couldn’t believe it either.
And the other teammate is a brand new first grade teacher named Janelle. Janelle came over to me with her hands over her mouth, speechless. As if she couldn’t believe she was meeting me. Like I was Florence See from See’s Candy or Mrs. Fields. At least that’s how I’d act if I met either of them. She was too cute and fresh and new and just made me feel tired.
We started talking about school right away – class sizes, curriculum, specials – how they have them and I don’t because they teach at a private school and I teach for the government so there you go, and all that other good school stuff teachers always talk about.
It was fun, and weird, and amazing, and neat, and odd all at the same time. Because I’m just me. But they thought I was somebody.

Me. In flats.
Not crouching down.
Standing at my full height.
SIGH.
One of the sweetest things was when Toni’s husband came through the kitchen and was introduced to me. He was pleased to meet me and all that jazz, but then said, “We were so sorry to hear about your dog.”
Wow.
I mean, wow.
So. That was super fun and crazy and then we got to eat the most delicious food!!
I had:
strawberries and blueberries with a sherry whipped topping
mimosa (or two) because I wasn’t driving
french toast casserole with syrup
yogurt parfait with granola
William Sonoma crossiant
And I could have had:
quiche
egg, sausage casserole thing
but I am not a fan of those things because I don’t like eggs.
And for dessert:
It was a CANDY BAR.
As in, fill up your bag with candy!!!!!!
I am not at all ashamed to say that I ate my entire bag of candy on the way home.
Oh, and I should say that Natalie received some amazing gifts and I am so happy for her. Because it was about her and not about me.
I just got carried away.
It took me forever to post again today so my sale that’s going on will also last through tomorrow.
So even though it says March 17th, you can still get 20% off tomorrow.

I'm a-scared of the dark too and I hate when I am "home alone"! I keep all the lights on at night. I have 2 small dogs and they bark a lot and I about jump out of my skin. Being hispanic, I grew up hearing about the cucuy, the mexican version of the boogie man! lol!

Too funny! I have only been following you for a short time but I love the way your posts sound like you are talking to a friend and your stories are too funny. But really the reason I started following you is because I too am a teeny tiny teacher, I stand at 4ft 11 (it is really 5 ft because I ALWAYS wear heels NEVER flats). Enjoy your celebrity status, heehee

If I saw anyone from blogland I would think they were a celebrity too! It's also weird how you feel like you know someone. I refer to people all the time on blogs. Like oh yeah I was talking to this teacher the other day….oh no they don't work here they're on a blog lol!

Though most celebrities have attractive salaries. I never thought being famous would be wonderful, because my limited exposure to celebrity news has shown me the dark side of it.
