Hey there, people!
A long, long, long time ago, back when the temperatures were hotter, and the days were longer, and an alarm clock was not necessary, and you could use the bathroom whenever you needed, I received an email.
It was summer, in case you didn’t know.
Although how could you not know, what with all the hints I just gave.
The email was from the Dixon Ticonderoga company.
Did you know that I love a good Ticonderoga pencil? Especially when it comes already sharpened in the pack? Oh, how I love that. I like the way my printing looks when I use a Ticonderoga.
And, let’s be real here, isn’t it fun to say Ticonderoga? Doesn’t it remind you of the book (and movie which was equally good and that is almost always hard to do) Fried Green Tomatoes when Evelyn Couch screams, “Tawonda!” as she hits that stupid little girl’s Volkswagen bug over and over? If you have not seen or read Fried Green Tomatoes, that is a must do for your Thanksgiving break. I’m serious. You will thank me. And then, if you have extra time, you need to read all of the rest of Fannie Flagg’s books because they are hilarious and sweet and you will not be able to put them down.
TAWONDA!
I mean, TICONDEROGA!
They sent me an email and asked me to review a kit of fun filled stuff for them. They have a brand called Prang which focuses on markers and colored pencils and watercolors. I said hot dog! Tawonda! TICONDEROGA! and look what I got in the mail!
Prang markers really are the best. I <3 the teal. Your kids are right on target! Also, I think I should open an art center in my classroom during recess. I'll bet your kids love it and mine would too!
Polka Dots & Teaching Tots
The off brand watercolors stink! I like Prang watercolors.

I heart Fannie Flagg too! Did you know she has a new book coming out in November?!? I know, right!!! I am so excited to read a new book by her–she is so fun to read!
Love your review–love how you had the kids review the products. Sounds like a great lesson to me….
btw–We read some of your Reader's Theater today! I recorded 3 of the presentations to put on our computers for our Listening Center. It was so cute and the kids were so happy!

How do you get chosen to review things?? I've seen this on other people's blogs too. Please share!!
Oh man… all this time I thought it was "To Wanda"… and I have seen that movie a million times. Clearly I need to read the book! I'm off to Amazon to grab it for my Kindle. ๐

Love, Laughter and Learning in Prep!
P.S. We don't get Ticongeroga in Australia so I can only comment on Fried Green Tomatoes. ๐
I was wondering the same things as Teacher Lisa and wanted to let you know that I am having my first giveaway on my blog. Come and see!

Keep Calm and Apple On
Love Fried Green Tomatoes! I lived 30 mins from the restaurant, The Whistlestop, where the movie was filled (in Irondale, AL). Sooo delicious! The best comfort food!
I agree that a good Ticonderoga pencil is hard to beat. Imagine my surprise when a student brought in Tri-conderoga pencils with his back to school supplies. These are Ticonderoga brand but are triangular in shape, They are covered in this really soft grippy rubber and have long-lasting black erasers. Now, in addition to preferring Ticonderoga pencils, I really only want Tri-conderogas!
a) I love Fried Green Tomatoes (the movie, not the actual tomatoes that have been fried).
b) I love Ticonderoga #2 pencils! My OCD requires that I buy them for my whole class and I send the knock-offs back home with the students.
c) I will be purchasing those Prang colored pencils now!
Loved your review!
My building's art teacher has always requested Prang Watercolors and once you go Prang baby you never go back!!! The brushes alone in the watercolors make me smile. They are so big and soft and the kids love to use them because they make painting soo easy and of course the colors are so vibrant. If your lovely local Walmart doesn't carry them, make sure they know to order them at school supply time. ๐

**I have said it before and I will say it again… the teacher's lounge would never be the same if you worked in my building!:)**
