Compound Words

Well, hotdog!  

That was my attempt at some compound word humor.

I don’t think it worked.

Shuckydarn.  (sort of a compound word, at least in my vocabulary, and seeing as how I’m pointing out all the compound words that I’m writing, let’s call them CW’s for short throughout {CW} the rest of my post)

Anywho, I just got back from checking out two doggy daycare (CW) facilities because I’m a huge nerd and it seems as if this go around in the fur baby department, I’m going to go overboard (CW!) and above and beyond all pet ownership (CW!) requirements.

It’s just weird having only one dog.  When we had Foster and Sydney as puppies, they played ALL THE TIME.  I don’t even remember really having to keep them occupied because they just played ALL THE TIME and/or I’ve blocked my exhaustion from playing with them ALL THE TIME completely from my memory.  And then when they got older, they just kept each other company.  And they slept while I slept, and dozed when I watched TV, and napped when I blogged, and dreamed when I read a book. When Foster passed, we just had Sydney and she had turned into a grumpy old lady by then, and didn’t want any other fur babies or toddlers or grown ups anywhere near her or her parents.  That’s what she told us, anyway.

But little miss Murphie?  Well . . . she wants to PLAY ALL THE TIME AND NOW I AM A GRUMPY OLD LADY.

So.  I’ll let you know how it goes.  We have a trial run tomorrow.  And before you go on hating me, we would only do doggy daycare (CW) once or twice a week JUST FOR FUN, and not because we are neglectful.  It would just be another way to spoil our little princess.

In the meantime, Murphie and I have been playing and peeing and pooping and chewing and digging so much that it has taken me almost two months to finish and complete my Compound Word Picture Cards.

Yikes.

But thank goodness they’re done.  They are ready just in time because when we get back from break, we will need to become Compound Word Experts because our district believes in assessing my kids on compound words until the very end of time.  And rather than “teach to the test”, we will play games, and find our partners, and fight over cards that each of us need, and tattletale that she is hiding the dog card and that’s not fair, and tattletale that he keeps saying pee when it’s not pee, it’s a vegetable or is it a fruit and I don’t like them anyways, and after all of that, we will complete some follow up activities.

There are four types of printables:  matching, circling, writing, and recording.  There are 12 printables in all.
You can check them out {HERE} at TpT.  They’re on sale now, too.  Because I’m on Spring Break.  And because Tuesday was my nephew’s birthday, yesterday was my dad’s birthday, and today is my aunt’s.  Yep.  That’s as good as reason as any because if you must know, I spent a fortune on cards for those three relatives.  Geesh.  I also had to write inside EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM.

    Puppies are definitely a lot of work…and entertaining…and hyper…and irritating…and…well the list could go on an one. Our puppy is driving me crazy will no go past our backdoor to tinkle or poop. It's driving me absolutely crazy!!!

    I was just testing my kiddos on being able to hear the words in compound words (something I thought was super easy…but not as easy as I thought for kinders). So this could really work for after springbreak (CW in my vocabulary).

    Puppies are a TON of work! As for doggie daycare our dogs LOVE to go. They get to go a couple of times a month. When we pull in the parking lot they get so excited. If they could jump out the window they would.

    Oh, and BTW. (That's a compound abbreviation.) No cheating here! You NEED a second doggie! And this one needs to be a rescue. Or was Murphie a rescue, too?
    Hey, we have two rescued chihuahuas and they play together all the time. They LOVE each other! That is WAY better than doggie day care!!! Take your dog to a rescue group to meet some other dogs and let Murphie pick out a new little sister or brother. 🙂
