Happy Sunday! I don’t think I will be experiencing the Sunday Night Blues. I just have to get through this week, and then we are on our TWO WEEK SPRING BREAK! Yes, that’s right. TWO WEEKS! We have been told that we’re on a Modified Traditional Schedule, but it’s hard to find any evidence of it. Most of the time, it doesn’t feel like it. But when this two week Spring Break rolls around, it really does! So . . . the Sunday Night Blues will be curbed by the light at the end of the tunnel.
I did not intend to write more about my Dress Debacle. The first reason being that this blog is not supposed to be about fashion or clothing. The second reason being that I don’t have the first clue about fashion or clothing.
However, I got lots of comments from you saying that you wanted to see pictures of the dress. And, if you’ll remember, I am nothing if not obliging. ๐
I didn’t have anyone take a pic of me in my dress with my camera or my phone. Oops. This isn’t going so well.
The paparazzi was out in FULL FORCE, but I guess we can’t really call them the paparazzi when we know we are going to see them everywhere. It was more like the cameras at a red carpet event. (No surprises in the bra department at Target.) I imagine all of the paparazzi pictures will show up on our school website, Facebook page, yearbook, etc. But I don’t have access to them yet.
So I did the next best thing.
I found my dresses online. They’re from Ann Taylor Loft. And, just for the record, I did go to Nordstroms with my gift card. But I didn’t like anything. It turns out I wasn’t going to the prom, but the sales assistant thought I was.
Here’s the original dress that I bought (and then took to the tailor’s).

is there not another tailor you can go to???
Mrs. K says
How about if you belt it with a wide brown belt? Would that help for dress #1? ALl those dresses are ADORBS!! If your tailor has been good to you for all the other times you got stuff altered, but just made a mistake with this one, I would keep going to him. Maybe he could fix it??? I'd ask him to fix it or buy me a new dress.

love all of them. I would look like a camper in dress 2 and 3. But thankfully it's not about me!! I would go put the dress on and show the tailor and ask if he/she can fix it because you love him/her and want it all to work out. If he/she can't fix it then money back!
No hives involved. just a little armpit sweat maybe.

Of course, I'm sure you looked ADORABLE in all three dresses. I, on the other hand, would have looked like a stripey nightmare in the black and white one-horizontal stripes and myself are NOT friends, especially across the hips!!
I'll have to check out the LOFT-all three are ADORBS!

I'd have him fix the dress or refund the money that I spent to have it tailored and replace the dress itself. Like Mrs. K said, if he has been good all the other times I might consider going to him still. But then again, if he can mess this dress up… he can mess others up to. I'd be afraid.

All super cute dresses and I'm sure you look amazing is all! I don't think I would go back….that's just me….but that was a lot of money for a mess up…….yeah, I don't think I would go back.

I would wear the dress to the tailor (with clothes to change into) and let him see how it turned out. If you've been using him for an extended period I can't imagine his objecting to fixing it. If he won't I'd ask for my money back and not choose to use him again. Take the hubs with you to be your support! Maybe he could wear a tank top and flex his muscles to show how strong he is! ๐

Really cute dresses! I bet if you go back and just say that he does a really awesome job you're just unsure about the zipper part he will be happy to fix it. ๐ Good luck!

I bet your tailor will fix it if you ask, since you said he's done a good job until then.
All the dresses look cute!

Hm…I am 5' tall so I understand the necessity of a great tailor. I would take it back and say I love it exceeeeept…I'm sure he'll fix it if he values his customers. If not? His loss. If you buy a dress at Von Maur they tailor it for free, but I love all the ones you have!!
Natalie says
Definitely try to work it out with the tailor! I'm sure he didn't realize that he had messed up, and would want to fix his mistake. Right?

If you divorce your tailor – I'll divorce my hairdresser. I've been with her since '98 – how long have the two of you been together?!? ๐

First of all Two weeks! Two weeks! Really!
boo hoo, I only get one week, but I have to get through parent teacher conferences first. I shouldn't complain the last district I worked in had one to two days depending on the year.
I think your dresses look fanbulous, I know I wouldn't go back to the tailor, because I am a chicken about confrontation, but I probably could get my husband who has no such inhibitions to do it for me. The problem is I would still feel bad, so probably no.
Heather Mathews says
lucky girl! 2 weeks would be bliss. We just started our one week break, and I'm over the moon. Have a relaxing and wonderful time. Do something restorative.
Loved all three dresses! I'm a chicken about confrontation, too. But still, I think I would go back.
Traci says
Love the dresses… all 3.. but that is hardly what caught my attention.
2 WEEKS … 2 WEEKS?!?!?!!!

Cute dresses. I love the loft. I'm only 5ft. and they have great petite options. I also wanted to say thanks so much for the theme tests!

Kristin,
Thank you for supplying details for your adoring fans! Okay, I LOVE dress number one – have your team buddies seen you in it post tailoring? Do they think it is wearable? My second favorite is dress number two. I LOVE black and it is adorable. I bet you looked wonderful!
re: your tailor
Oh, it is so hard. If it were me, I would never, ever take dress number one back to him. It would be so hard. But it sounds like you have been working with him forever, right? If this is his first blunder, maybe you could try on all the dresses in the future before you leave his place. That way you could sweetly point out any flaws. Would I keep going to him? Yes because I am a wimp and would feel so awful if I left him – what if he went bankrupt because of me. (I am crazy bad this way!!!)

I'm glad you don't post about fashion. Before you get upset, the reason is because I WOULD GO BROKE!! Those dresses are stinkin' adorable and I want to buy them now!!! Pretty weird how I look like those models too, huh??

Oh ya, I forgot to tell you about the tailor. I would demand my money back!!! That is a lot of money throw away young lady!
