Happy Saturday We Get An Extra Hour Of Sleep Tonight!
Hooray!
I love this time change weekend — even though we are going to lose daylight hours. I still love it. I think there is a time for everything and I am here to say IT IS TIME TO HIBERNATE! ๐
Here’s what I was up to this week . . .
Hallelujah!
I think this was the very first year that not one parent cancelled, rescheduled, or did not show up. Everything ran like clock work and I even managed to stay within my 20 minute time limit (most of the time).
We had minimum days (which makes me an outstanding teacher, let me tell you. A four and a half hour day of teaching makes me look quite brilliant, if I do say so myself) and I had HUGE plans to accomplish a lot of organizing and things on my To-Do list and catching up and getting ahead and what-not.
Instead, I ended up accomplishing Parent Conferences.
Then I went home and went to bed and started all over the next day.
I didn’t organize anything unless you count moving my piles and stacks of paper to cupboards and storage so that the parents couldn’t see my clutter.
By the way, I think it counts.
Steve’s BBQ Class totally paid off.
These ribs were to die for.
And those are garlic mashed potatoes.
HEAVEN!
I put this photo on Instagram and someone commented no wonder you’re so tiny, your plate barely has anything on it so I would like to go on record now and say . . .
I ATE MORE THAN THOSE 3 RIBS ON MY PLATE.
AND MORE THAN THAT PILE OF POTATOES.
I ATE A LOT.
And then I felt a little sick.
So I had to have a piece of Halloween candy to feel better.
The candy that we bought ahead of time
that we clearly shouldn’t have.
That’s pretty much my relationship with food in a nutshell.
We had been studying bats during our Science time and reading non-fiction texts about bats during our Language Arts time so one day this week, we made a little bat craft. But before we made our craft, I showed this video that I just happened to stumble across one day.
You can read more about Lil Drac {HERE}. My kids were so in awe! Many of us changed our opinions about bats after watching this (we had also been studying opinions).
I didn’t know I could be in love with a bat.
Nobody tell Murphie.
Speaking of Murphie . . .
She helped us pass out candy last night.
๐
We usually sit out on the front porch and wait for the trick or treaters to come to us (rather than sit on the couch and argue about whose turn it is to answer the door) and then we hang out with the neighbors after it’s all said and done.
Murphie made a million friends last night and not one trick or treater was afraid to come up to her.
That was actually not my plan. I was hoping to have left over candy.
Goshdarnit.
Anywho, Murphie now loves Frozen and Elsa. Or Elsas.
RAIN!
Holy RAIN! We were so excited that it started raining last night at about 9pm. It rained throughout the night and a little bit this morning. I can’t tell you the last time we had rain.
I AM LOVING IT!
Like I said, let’s change those clocks and bring on the hibernation.
I’m IN! (Literally. I’m inside.)

Thank you for sharing the Lil Drac video! We finished our bat unit last week, but there's no harm in showing this after the fact? Right? I have always loved bats and am thrilled to teach the kids that bats are fantastic little creatures! Especially since they eat mosquitoes. ๐

Wow!! Conferences with no cancelations or no shows? That is seriously a miracle! Ours aren't until December, but I am hoping for the same. Fingers crossed!

Had to smile when I read that Murphie now loves Frozen and Elsas (plural) because I think Elsa has taken over the world… I had 6 girls in my class planning to be Elsa and I am pretty sure half the neighborhood. I have to admit I love Frozen though too – my husband and I watched it a few months ago. No kids in our house… just us enjoying Frozen – hehe! Happy November!
