PEOPLE!!!!!
I’m officially on summer vacation.
I can’t even believe it. I seriously can NOT believe it. Someone pinch me because I feel like I’m still in school and this is just a regular weekend. I mean I can NOT believe it.
This was THE smartest thing I think I’ve ever done.
I did not burn 32 DVDs all the day long on Memorial Day for the first time in YEARS. I decided to join the 21st Century and I gave my families a private link (to my Dropbox) to access our slideshow. After putting this on my Instagram and hearing from all of you, I edited it and included a QR code, too.
I KNOW!
A couple of people said I was so tech-y and let me tell you, I am NOT. Really. I am not. You can do this, too. YOU CAN.
I’ve had a LOT of questions about all of this. From what I include in my slideshow to what program I use to how in the heck I got a link to my dropbox . . . so I’m planning a post on that later this week since I’ll be on summer vacation and might actually have time to blog in a leisurely type of way.
In the meantime, I have an editable version of my handout, if you’d like it. Click {HERE}.
Anyway, I’m super proud of myself and tooting my horn all over the place about it. You’ve probably heard me tooting my horn wherever you live.
TOOT TOOT!
Look at these BEAUTIFUL BRAND NEW SitSpots!
They make me SO SO SO happy.
On Thursday, we did a lot of collecting/trashing/keeping of things from our desk and around the room. At the end of the day, when we were sitting on the carpet, I said okay pull your sit spot up. You get to keep it.
And they all just sat there looking at me with these stunned little looks on their faces like I had just said now let’s have a contest to see how far we can spit across the room.
I had to repeat myself. Pull your sit spot off the carpet. You get to take it home and keep it.
AND STILL THEY SAT THERE. Well, except for that one. You know the one. Who’s like you don’t have to tell me twice — rrrriiiipppppppp.
Once they all really digested what I said, they started pulling them up, and one of my little girls who loves playing school said this is just perfect, I’m going to make my little sister sit on this!
Ha!
And I already have my brand new SitSpots ready to go for next year! I cannot say enough about my love for SitSpots. When you have a large class size (up to 32), and a rug does not fit in your designated carpet area and so you use masking tape and get in trouble, and then you use painters tape and get in trouble, and then you just give up and use nothing so your rows look more like a tangled ball of silly string because your kids are doing the best they can, but, let’s face it, they’re six years old, SIT SPOTS WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE.
For reals, people.
Next year, my goal is to use SitSpots for GAMES and SUCH and I hope to share those with you! So be on the look out.
🙂
I thought this was the cutest thing! My kids were having Fun Friday this week except it wasn’t on a Friday and it was FREE. And what I mean by that is that we didn’t count our gold tags and choose clips off of the Fun Friday chart.
Anyone could do anything at anytime. It was FREE and FUN and I think it was on Thursday, but I don’t really know because there was no school on Monday which means I was wrong about the days ALL WEEK LONG.
So anyway. FREE FUN FRIDAY. Do anything. Just let me organize something or cross something off my Check Out For Summer Sheet That I Have To Fill Out Before Leaving.
My kids could play with legos or play-dough or cars or blocks or iPods or iPads or ANYTHING, really.
And there were about ten of them playing school. Boys and girls. Together. Playing school.
And saying Class Class?
And saying Hip Hip?
I mean.
I just loved their little set up and how they took turns being the teacher.
GAH!
I’m weepy because I love them and I’ll miss them.
Okay so if you’re a vegetarian, you are probably sickened by this picture. So I apologize. Avert your eyes, you broccoli-eating people.
BUT.
Steve is on an official team and is competing in his first official BBQ competition this weekend. He has competed at his work’s BBQ competition for three years running now, but this is OFFICIAL. It has nothing to do with his work.
He is in charge of the brisket.
Last weekend, for Memorial Day, he smoked the one on the left for “practice”. And I don’t know a lot about a lot, and I’m not a huge meat eater (I’d much rather have the sides like potatoes and salad and rolls and corn and such), but holy cow (Literally – COW), it was DELICIOUS.
Steve’s aunt and uncle and I were surrounding him as he trimmed it and cut it and I don’t know what all else, but we were just sitting there waiting for scraps. He also made some sort of made up sauce with all kinds of things in it and I could have slurped it all up with a spoon. We took the rest to a pool party we went to later, and then he took the rest to work. It all got rave reviews.
The brisket on the right is for the competition and who knows what it will taste like and who knows what the other briskets will taste like. He is competing against “professionals” and all I can say is I CAN’T WAIT TO TASTE THEM ALL. 😉
He got to the venue on Friday morning and has been there ever since because he has to “babysit” his meat. It takes about 14 hours, I guess. Anyways, he keeps texting me to tell me that these are his people.
I’m like . . . Rednecks? Country folk? Americans?
Hahahahaha! He says everyone is so so so nice and has gone out of their way to welcome the new team.
My sister and her fiancé and my niece are coming to get me later and we are heading out there. 🙂
Look at my beautiful new desktop!!!! Oh I love love love it! I got one for each month from Meghan at Keeping Up with Mrs. Harris. Sign up for her emails and you can get them, too! I love how the calendar is right there and I don’t have to push any buttons.
Now. I have seeing eye problems because I am blind blind blind which I’ve talked about before so seeing light blue document folders on top of blue backgrounds just about killed me. I thought to myself that I wouldn’t be able to use these. I previously had a white background just for this reason. A cute pink/white one that I designed myself, but still. So then I googled how and if you can change the folder color on a Mac and YES YOU CAN! LOOK! MY FOLDERS ARE PINK.
PINK I SAID!
Now, if you asked me how in the heck I did this, I would not be able to tell you because honestly, I don’t even remember. But THIS IS THE ARTICLE that walked me through all of the steps. Click {HERE}.
I’m in LOVE!
Alright, I’m off to stuff my face with BBQ.
🙂
