Hello, hello, hello weekend with the promise of rain! HELLO!
I had a girl’s night last weekend and we painted again.
First, we had wine and snacks, and then we painted.
I have painted in this capacity before and I have to say that I would rather just have the wine and the snacks. I am not a painter. Nor am I an artist.
In fact, this time around, my tree looked as if it was in some serious need of water. Which, in California, most trees are due to the drought.
I was pretty much stressed about it all over again this go-round, too.
And I dropped my ENTIRE plate of paint onto my friend’s floor, onto wood floor, but STILL. STILL! We wiped it up and she assured me that the wood was not damaged, but I am here to tell you that I need more room when I am painting, and keeping a plate of paint underneath a little easel is not okay with me. I need my plate to the right of me, but there was no table to the right of me, it was just butcher paper which looked like it was on top of the table and so when I set it there, it wasn’t table, it was AIR, and that’s how I dropped the plate.
After we painted, we hung out and ate some more, and then I had fun again.
My other painting and this painting are going to keep each company in a closet somewhere. Or the trash can.
We can rhyme! Hallelujah – it’s true – we can ALL rhyme!
We started with picture cards in the pocket chart that didn’t have matches and then we made pairs. Once we were quick with that (we were quick, I tell you!), I passed out a card to each student and we played a fun game of Are You My Partner? My kids love love love any kind of matching partner game where they are up and moving and looking for someone to pair up with (and secretly hoping it’s their best friend, or just trying to make it be their best friend by trying to convince me that mouse and mail do rhyme because, one time, a mouse was in their mailbox, it’s true Mrs. Oldham, this is true!)
We played a few times because they begged me to, and so I obliged.
I used the cards from my Rhyming Picture Cards pack but obviously anything would work. I just like how these cards come with a word AND a picture so that all of my learners are successful.
On Wednesday, September 30, we flooded Facebook with pictures of Jon Jon. It has been six months since he passed away. I can’t really believe it. This picture was taken about two years ago, right after he was diagnosed and a first grader in my class.
I pray for his family every single day, multiple times a day. My heart still aches for them and for Jon Jon.
I miss him.
On Thursday, I went to Happy Hour with a couple of friends and we ate like pigs. Pretzels, egg rolls, pizza.
Yum, yum, yum!!!!
We had wine, and one of us had a martini, and we talked and talked and talked. It was a fun thing to do in the middle of the week.
I don’t do it often enough.
Well, let’s be clear, I do have wine at my house mid-week sometimes, it just depends on the day and how things went. What I mean is that Happy Hour at a restaurant doesn’t happen often enough for me.
It’s fall!!! And supposedly we are going to get a little bit of rain this week, and the temps are going to drop down into the 80s!
I KNOW!
I might need to wear a sweater! And a scarf! And boots!
It gets cold in the air conditioned classroom, ya know.

We are going to be doing some informative writing this week on the season of fall and adding it to this board. Can’t wait!
How was your week?

Hi! If you lived in my neck of the woods, I would do GNO with you minus the painting. Really, I would! Have a wonderful weekend! Camille
