Happy New Year! Happy Saturday! Happy I Still Have One More Week of Vacation! ๐
Ahhhhh.
Fires. In fireplaces.
I do not have a fireplace at my house.
Actually, wait, that’s not true. I do. But it’s pretend. I can build a fire in it by turning on a light switch. And then it makes a funny noise and a light flickers and it looks sort of pretty, but not really, because it’s fake, and puts off no heat whatsoever at all. AT ALL.
I was able to spend a lot of time at my parent’s house last week (I even spent the night several nights in a row, sharing a bedroom with Kerry like we used to when we were growing up) and every single night, my dad made a fire.
Ahhhh.
I spent a lot of time sitting in front of it and I was in heaven.
One night while I was staying at my parent’s house, my mom made all of us hot cocoa. Hot cocoa is not hot chocolate, by the way.
My mom makes hot cocoa with Hershey’s cocoa. The actual stuff. And she makes it in a pot on a stove. In other words, she actually cooks it. Or bakes it. Or mixes it and stirs it. Or whatever the technical cooking term may be.
I cannot explain the deliciousness of my mom’s hot cocoa. It’s almost like she needs to open a little Hot Cocoa Pop Up Store or something during the winter months so other people can enjoy it, too. Because if you asked me to make it for you, I would have absolutely no clue as to how to replicate it for you (just spelling that out for you in case the fact that I don’t know technical cooking terms wasn’t clear enough).
You also always get a choice – whipped cream or marshmallows. Although, I’m sure you could have both.
I’m craving some right now.
Deliciousness!
Maybe I shouldn’t say anything and just let this picture speak for itself.
Okay, who am I kidding? Of course, I’m going to say something.
I made it to the New Year’s Eve party. I even made it to midnight, although Steve and I were home and in bed by 12:10am.
We played a ton of games and this one was called Tie A Kleenex Box Around Your Waist, Fill It With Eight Ping Pong Balls And Shake Your Bootie Until They All Fall Out (Or Something Along Those Lines).
Steve beat me during our round because I had one ping pong ball that was stuck. And I was dying laughing. So instead of shaking my bootie, I was mostly bent over double, trying to catch my breath.
However, during the lightning round of One Person Gives Clues In Different Categories And Her Teammates Shout All Of The Guesses That They Can Think Of, I killed it and the girls finally won!!!!! I was the person giving the clues to Singers Who Have Also Acted and I was a MACHINE! My girls were awesome, too. We were AMAZING.
We didn’t brag, either.
We strutted.
Well. It’s back.
And it’s Ben.
He seems nice enough, but he’s no Brad Womack. ๐ Or Josh Murray. Remember Josh Murray? He’s the boy that Andi Dorfman picked and I was slightly obsessed with him. He was the former pro baseball player and his smile killed me. KILLED ME.
And if someone could please tell my brain to remember why I walked into the kitchen, or back into my bedroom, or why I just grabbed my purse in the same way that I can so easily recall the names of bachelors and bachelorettes from shows that aired years ago, I would appreciate it because I keep forgetting to do it myself.
Seriously, though, I didn’t have to look up any of those names. They just came to me. Like a finger snap. Snap.
Let’s all stand back and be in awe of my life priorities.
Speaking of which, I’m contemplating bringing back Talk About It Tuesdays, but only if I can get ten or more people to say they will read it and/or comment about it each week. Otherwise, I’m just going to sip my red wine and watch the show with a bowl of candy. And a bowl of popcorn. All of which will be low fat, low carb, and low calorie options due to the whole it’s a new year, I’m going to pretend to be healthy for a least the first few days.
So. If you’d like me to bring back Talk About It Tuesdays, I’ve started a petition.
You can find it at the end of this post where it says Comment.
I’m almost finished with the Winter Edition of The Write Spot and hope to have it in my store by tomorrow. This one is already in our homework for when we return, although we’re using the tiered version so that students can become more independent. Click the picture or {HERE} to grab all three versions of this sample to help differentiate writing in your classroom!
And that’s it for now.
That’s all I’ve got.
Don’t forget to sign the petition if you want Talk About It Tuesday to return this winter.

I never watch the bachelor because I get just too embarrassed for the people on it. :). I do, however, love reading your Talk about it Tuesday posts. It makes me feel like I have a clue, without actually having to watch. And you are hilarious!

Please bring back Talk about it Tuesday's. I do not watch any of these shows but many of my co-workers and friends do. Without your weekly updates I cannot follow their conversations. Any chance you could watch Vampire Diaries and blog about that as well? It would make Friday night at the bar easier to follow. By the way I am a SPED teacher for 4th and 5th grade in an inner city school and I take many of your ideas and scale them up to meet my kiddos IEPs. Thanks for sharing,
