If you follow my Facebook page, then you know that I wrote a entire blog post yesterday. And then it wouldn’t publish. And then it disappeared. Disappeared, I said.
So I ate a brownie. And then I ate a cookie.
But, just for the record, I did write a blog post yesterday. It was Five for Friday on a Friday.
But now it’s Saturday and that post is gone so I’m attempting to start all over and act like it’s still Friday, but it probably won’t work.
Because I’m confused and grumpy. Maybe I should go eat another brownie. And another cookie. Just to be on the safe side.
I had time for breakfast every single day this week! You know they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right?
I had a Starbucks and cookies every day. With the exception of Christmas day when I had cinnamon rolls (tradition) and today when I had a caramel brownie (new tradition).
I’m trying to think of a way to keep this up when I go back to school, but I’ll probably be too busy.
Goshdarnit.
I got a Silhouette Cameo!!!! And I have no idea how to use it! And I have no idea if I even got everything I need in order to use it! But Steve probably got it for me because I’m constantly saying I could totally make that if I had a Cameo or This would go so much faster if only I had a Cameo or I could open up a shop on Etsy and sell things and become super rich if I just had a Cameo.
So now I have one.
And I’m going to make something (I haven’t thought of it yet) and then I’m going to sell it at the next big neighborhood garage sale, and if that goes over well (as I’m sure it will), then I’ll open up my new shop on Etsy.
Watch out, world.
Well, you don’t have to watch out just yet.
I’m going to ease into this.
Meet Dakota.
This is Steve’s aunt’s dog and we are watching her while they are out of town. She is Murphie’s cousin. I know that’s not exactly accurate, but that’s what we’re calling it.
Dakota likes to sleep with us. This is a new thing for us. Murphie does not like to sleep with us. In fact, if Murphie happens to be on the bed, and my nose twitches, or I move my pinkie finger a fraction of an inch, she jumps down as if I ruined everything, excuse me, why did you move, I was so comfortable, and now I am not. Harumph.
But Dakota, on the other hand, will not get down under any circumstances whatsoever. And she wedges herself up against either one of us and lies horizontally when I’m vertical (as in, I’m in the correct position in which one lies in a bed) and even if I PUSH WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT (and I am mighty, by the way, you’d be surprised), Dakota will not move. At all.
I think I will definitely miss this little cuddle bug and her occasional head resting on my hip (or the more often paw slapping me on top of the head) in the middle of the night.
And, even though Murphie has a friend to play with every day, all day, she would much rather have a human play with her.
Will you play with me?
We went to see this yesterday. With the whole big family.
Now, I have to say that I am an original Annie fan. This is probably because I am old.
But when I was a little girl, Kerry and I would play Annie with our friend, Sharla. Kerry was Miss Hannigan, Sharla was Annie, and I was Molly. We would act out scenes and then put the record on to sing along. Yes, the record. And if you don’t know what a record is, we can no longer be friends. I’m sorry. It’s just the way it is.
For as long as I can remember, I have been spontaneously breaking out into one or another song from Annie (most notably The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow) with my first graders. Expo markers make great microphones, by the way.
All of this is to say that I am an Annie fan.
I was worried that this new version would not live up to the original.
I was completely prepared to walk out and demand my $11 refund.
From my gift card.
And then I was planning on singing It’s a Hard Knock Life in the lobby and no one was going to look weird at me, either, because people break out into songs all the time in musicals and other people just watch and/or sing along.
But I didn’t have to do that. The movie was pretty good.
I enjoyed myself.
So I’m saving the song for when I’m back in school and my first graders will appreciate it. Whether they like it or not.
I am up to my eyeballs in writing winter plays for Kinder Kids and Advanced Readers.
And by up to my eyeballs in writing, I mean I’m checking Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and blogs, and writing a little on the side.
But I got a ton of Q/A’s in my TpT store about whether or not I was coming out with a winter edition (and by ton, I mean two or three) and so I thought I should get started.
I hope to have both sets up by Sunday, January 4th since I know most of you are returning to school on the 5th.
But I’m not. I don’t go back until the 12th.
I KNOW!!

I love my silhoutte cameo! If you need any help I'd be happy to help out. ๐ I mean as long as I'm not baking/eating cookies. ๐

Hi Friend!
I am sorry about the "disappeared" post. I have done that (three times) before… and no one can ever answer the "Where did it go?" question.
I read somewhere about Starbucks looking into a delivery system. Wouldn't that be the BEST? I can just imagine: "Sorry sixth graders… Starbucks is here. Can you just learn on your own for a few minutes so I can enjoy this while it's hot?" It worked quite well in my imagination!
Sending you big hugs and happy holiday wishes… and hopes for plenty of cookies.

I have been eating Snickerdoodles for breakfast all break long, and I sing Tomorrow from ANNIE into my real classroom microphone almost every day, once a day. My 2nd graders sing with me!
Good luck with your Cameo! It is very cool, but I too would have no clue as to how to use it!

I used to act out Annie too! That seemed to be a neighborhood rite of passage in the '80s. ๐
I am super jealous you don't have to go back until the 12th!
I have had the same conversations here about the Cameo and got a Portrait for Christmas! ๐ They were a busy company this Christmas!

Lol! I have been eating peanut butter blossoms throughout my break for breakfast! My suggestion for great cameo ideas is to follow Lauren at thinking closet.com. She has shared many ideas over the past couple years. I am hoping to pick up a Silhouette Portrait over the next few weeks in the post holiday sales. Enjoy the rest of your break! Happy holidays!

I hate it when my posts disappears. I bet the brownie and cookie helped though. LOL. I too love the original Annie. I have heard good things about the new one, but I just don't think it will be as good so I haven't went to watch it yet. I have a Silhouette Portrait and I love it!! I used it to decorate my classroom a lot. Good luck with your Cameo!

So jealous that you don't go back until the 12th!! Enjoy it though – you deserve it!!
I keep meaning to accomplish a ton, but then I end up checking all types of social media and my house does not get clean…. such is the life of a teacher on winter break I guess!
My breakfasts have been Almond Roca the past two days – I should probably make something that resembles real food! Happy New Year to you!

You go back on the 12th… we cannot be friends…I'm sorry – it's just the way it is. ๐ I'll be coming by with a laundry list of things I need "cameoed".

I'm such an Annie fan, too! I haven't seen the new one yet but I probably will break down and go see it. You gave me some hope. ๐ I can't wait until your winter plays come out! I love those!

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I am excited and nervous to see it. My daughters are super excited BUT I made sure they had seen the REAL one first. They love musicals- I think they get that from me. Anyway, good to hear it's ok.
Side note: I had this awesome record when I was little that was Strawberry Shortcake and it was super colorful. The whole record was a giant picture with Strawberry Shortcake and her friends. I loved that thing!
Your posts are always entertaining to read. ๐

I'm not sure I want to see the new Annie because I saw a clip of Cameron Diaz singing "Little Girls". That's one of my favorite songs in the show, and it was unrecognizable! Of course, nothing can compare with the '82 film version with 3 of my stage idols: Carol Burnett, Tim Curry, and Bernadette Peters!

I'm with you on the Cameo thingy…O'brian got me one for my birthday last year…and well…it's still waiting to be used more than once! There should be a class or something ppl can take to learn how to use it! Or I can wait until you polish your mad Cameo skills and teach me! ๐
HUGS!

Happy New Year! You are absolutely hilarious!! I saw Anne as well. It was decent. I think EVERY Anne fan was skeptical about the remake. Hope you find out how to use your Cameo soon. I see a lot of bloggers talking about theirs all.the.time. It'll be tons of fun once you figure it out!
