Five for Fraturday

It’s Saturday!  It’s Saturday!  It’s Saturday!
And, believe it or not, we’re going to a class about living trusts.  Yes.  Living Trusts.  It is official.  I am old.
I’m going on record and saying that it wasn’t me who made these Over the Top, Best Saturday Ever, You Wish You Were Me plans. You gotta give credit where credit is due so . . .  job well done, Steve.

I wore my cute booties to school the other day . . . and they were cute until about first recess and then my feet started killing me.  I made it until about 2:00 and then declared that I couldn’t do it anymore.
I can’t do this anymore, I declared.
These booties are hurting my feet, I cried.
I’m taking my booties off, I yelled. 
And, not wanting to be the only one in socks, I told my kids they could take their shoes off, too.
At dismissal, they asked me to wear my booties again soon.

These pictures were taken on Wednesday.  My teammates and I had a long planning meeting.  Several times, they asked me if I could grab my Teacher’s Edition or my copy of this-or-that or did I have that thing that our principal gave us . . . and every single time, I couldn’t find what we needed.
As the meeting went on, I felt like I was losing my mind.  
Where was my stuff?  I always know where my stuff is.  I’m on the ball, people.  I am organized.  I am anal.  I have issues, remember?
But now I have new issues and I don’t know where my stuff is.  Like, for real.  I know it’s in my room somewhere, but I’ve yet to find any of it.  
It would probably help if I looked for it.
My teammates said they liked this out-of-control side of me.
Which begs the question . . . what’s wrong with the other me?  Hmmm.
I ordered new Converse!  Yay!  Can you tell which ones are the new ones?  😉
My old pair are literally (I’m not kidding, I’m not exaggerating) my old pair are twelve years old.  And please do not tell me that twelve years ago you were in elementary school because I do not want to hear it, thank you very much.
So it was time.  Obviously.
By the way, the backdrop in this picture is my wine fridge.  This is my most favorite spot in our house next to my office.  And my bed.  And my couch.
I love this spot.

Yesterday was Jon Jon’s birthday.  A bunch of us wore our T-shirts and made a video singing Happy Birthday to him.  It was a great way to start our day!  
I love our staff and our spirit!
Jon has received SO MANY cards and little gifts.  The outpouring of love is honestly so overwhelming.  If you or your class sent Jon a card, I can’t thank you enough.  I am so appreciative and I know Jon and his family are, too.

    What is it about kids wearing socks in the classroom? They LOVE it! We have a "Smelly Feet" coupon they can buy with their pirate coins (our school token system), and it is best-seller every week! My only rules are: they must have on socks and they have to put their shoes on to go to the bathroom, lunch, recess & specials. Come to think of it, I may have to join them, too. I think I would like teaching in sock feet some days!

    I keep good slippers in my desk drawer in case my cute shoes lose their charm. Slippers go with everything – just like my white Vans slip-ons did circa 1980. Yes, Mom, they DO look good with my dress – clearly.

    I have been wearing Sketchers Sketch-Airs to school and they are so comfortable! The box claims it is like walking on 27 mini-trampolines and they have memory foam insoles. I feel better equipped to deal with my special ed students in them! My class sent Jon-Jon birthday cards! I am so glad he got lots of them!

    I almost always take off my shoes right after the kids leave. They leave at 2:07 so I can just barely make it. I wear high heels to teach kindergarten students all the time.. crazy. I've walked down to the staff room in my socks before. So, I think that's a good idea. I have thought it for a long time. I would love to have the kids take off their shoes everyday actually. then they would stop trying to tie their shoes/eat their shoelaces/eat their shoe soles during their lessons. I always stop myself from that idea because of fire drills… I love your foldable books. 🙂 anniepopramos@gmail.com

    Thanks for showing your piles. I am a pile-er. I *usually* know which book/paper/sticky note/random junk is in each pile…. But sometimes it totally overwhelms me. Hope your trust meeting was fun. (Snacks maybe? A treat afterwards?). Happy weekend!

    Your chairs are SO cute! We have a major chair (the yucky school kind) shortage at our school. They break often and we're always shuffling them around because there's not enough! I'm eventually going to Donors Choose cute chairs! You need to post a pic of the cute booties! Jen

    My current pair of black Converse are fourteen years old! I got them my first year teaching. New Converse are just SO WHITE, so I feel like I need to run through the mud as soon as I get them. Are you like me in that you keep your old ones even after you get your new ones "just in case"? Not sure what the "just in case" is for, but I can't ever bear to get rid of them. heather.smurr@boerne-isd.net
