Happy Saturday!

The other day I blogged about how our principal is trying to get us all to relax about Open House and scale back a bit.
But even she knows the work that goes into it, regardless of how much scaling back we try to do!
Wednesdays are our early dismissal days and on the Wednesday before Open House, she allowed us to work in our rooms (rather than have a data meeting or a planning meeting or a something else kind of meeting that takes you away from your classroom when you have a million and three thousand things left to do.
She came on the intercom and announced that she knew we were working hard, and that our rooms were looking great, and dedicated the song I Will Survive to us . . . and then played more music over the intercom as we worked.
I LOVE MY PRINCIPAL!
By the way, those posters hanging from the ceiling are our Wanted Posters that our students do as part of a Pioneer Take Home Project. 🙂 I think when things hang from the ceiling, it makes the room more festive! We aren’t really supposed to hang things from the ceiling, but things get overlooked around Open House time. 🙂
We had students and teachers write notes to Jon Jon on flowers and stars for his tree. It was so sweet to read the messages from his friends. He is truly missed and really made a difference to so many others because of his courageous battle.
Decorating Jon Jon’s tree is always bittersweet!
But lots of students and parents stopped to admire, read the notes, and take a moment to remember Jon Jon during Open House.
This is my friend, Meghan. Her twins are in my class so she came early Friday morning to “tour” my classroom with her boys since she wasn’t able to the night before at Open House (she was in her own 3rd grade class). She brought me a Venti coffee to help me get through the day!
Then she came over last night with a couple of other friends, and we wore pajamas while we ate snacks, ordered pizza, and talked and talked until Meghan fell asleep on my couch.
It was a wild night and everyone stayed until 10:00.
10:00PM!! I know!
😉
Friday morning, our classified staff provided snacks for us and then even provided lunch!!! We were spoiled rotten!
One of our secretaries made these adorable cupcakes and cookies!
She said she found the ideas on Pinterest.
I told her I find ideas on Pinterest all the time, but they never turn out quite right.
Needless to say, I ate all.day.long.
Especially since the girls came over last night and we ate some more.
I’m happy to report that I already worked out today.
Go me!
It’s always a good day when you have Art Smarts the day after Open House.
I didn’t have to teach the lesson (although I had to stay in the room) and I got to have a little prep time.
I love their Curious George’s!!! Aren’t they so so so cute!!!!?????
And that about wraps up my week!!
I’m off to finish my report cards now . . . I see the end in sight . . . I can’t believe it!
We have 7 1/2 more days! How about you?

I think I would go insane if we had Open House at the end of the year. There is so much to do already.

Those Curious Georges are amazing! And the treats look pretty good too. 🙂 Have a great weekend!
