Sorry about the lack of a Five for Fraturday post yesterday.
I know two or three of you really look forward to it. 😉
Last weekend, Steve and I went to see All Shook Up with my parents in Laguna Beach. We try to go with them to a play at least once every summer. This play was a musical (obviously) and it was hilarious! I really enjoyed it. Sometimes, and don’t kill me, and I’ve said this before, I am not really a fan of musicals because seriously, who really walks around chit chatting, and then breaks out into a big ole song and dance routine? It’s just silly, if you ask me. And I love singing and I love to dance (although you won’t catch me doing it in public) and it is true that when people are talking, a song might hit me, and I might have to sing a verse or two of the song and mess up the lyrics because I say a lot of dooodoooodoooo and lalalaaalllaaaa, but I don’t do an entire number in the middle of the street like a Flash Mob or something.
But I loved this musical.
One thing about the Laguna Playhouse is that old people go there.
Old old people.
Very old people.
Old people who make my parents seem young, and fit as a fiddle, and like a couple of kids.
Meaning Steve and I are basically infants when we go.
I absolutely love it. I love when the elderly ladies call me dear.
🙂
Afterwards, we walked to the Lumber House for a yummy dinner.
How adorable is this shirt?!!!
I ordered it from Zoey’s Attic and it shipped the next day! How crazy is that? A personalized shirt that shipped THE NEXT DAY! I also love her little zebra logo. I don’t know. I think it’s cutest thing ever. With shipping, the T-shirt only cost $28 which I think is a huge bargain, considering it’s personalized, cute, and not on Amazon Prime.
Each of my teammates ordered one, too, and we are going to wear these at our Parent Information Night. Which is amazing. Because 1) I don’t have to think of anything to wear and 2) We are doing our Parent Info Night together. As a team. And 3) It’s okay to not wear dress at Parent Info Night if you’re all wearing Rah Rah We Love Teaching It’s The Best We Are So Cute We Will Take Care Of Your Child matching T-shirts.
There is a disclaimer when you order this shirt that it runs large. You actually have to click a little box that says you understand this.
So I did some measuring and some configuring and went with the extra small. I almost never wear extra small because who needs the life sucked out of them? Not me.
Well, it’s good I ordered the extra small.
Because this shirt is BIG.
Just like they said.
Once I roll up the sleeves, it kind of actually starts to look like it has 3/4 inch sleeves.
😉
Not too bad, right?
I mean, we are so lucky because we get to keep up all of our boards. So I didn’t feel too bad when I walked in. The new carpet is nice . . . when it’s not making me dizzy.
I’m sure it will be fine once all 30-32 of my kids fill up the space and I can no longer see it.
I’m switching up my Writing Center and my Listening Center this year so that’s on my brain. I hope it turns out the way my brain is visualizing it.
I’ll keep you posted (of course!).
I didn’t think having a big mess in my classroom was enough.
So Steve and I decided to have some work done in the front yard.
I mean, why not?
This was day one of demolition and it was one little guy in 100 degree weather. He was amazing!
I’ll keep you posted on this, too!
So here’s the main reason why there was no Five for Fraturday yesterday! Steve and I left for Napa on Thursday! And I thought I’d be able to blog, but . . . well . . . wine got in the way! 😉
You might remember that we went to Napa in an RV the first weekend of summer. And that the RV broke down.
When we got back, we said we needed Napa Round 2 to make up for it. Without an RV. We drove in a car and we are staying in a hotel. And the hotel is not on wheels. So there’s that.
It’s my last official weekend of summer (HOW?!), seeing as how next weekend is the exact weekend prior to school starting and I report back (officially) on August 5.
So far, we are having the BEST time! Murphie stayed with Steve’s aunt . . . so it’s just us and we’re doing whatever we want. We have had zero plans and have taken a nap every day. We are driving down the coast today, stopping at Pebble Beach for lunch, and continuing on to Paso to spend the night.
Then it’s back to reality . . .
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
PS Happy 70th Birthday to my Mom!!! I love you, Mom!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 She reads this so I had to say that . . . and I feel bad because last year I was in New York of her birthday, and this year I’m in Napa . . . but she knows I love her and that it’s nothing personal. 😉

I missed your Five for Fraturday post! I actually did my first-ever Five for Friday post and made it a Five for Fraturday in your honor, so someone noticed–have no fear. I LOVE your back-to-school night shirts and may convince my teammates to do the same as yours–completely brilliant way to avoid wearing a dress (and more importantly, heels). Enjoy Napa–my favorites are Stony Hill and Saintsbury, if you’re looking for places! 🙂

We stayed in Healdsburg which is a super cute town! They have a town square and there are a ton of places to wine taste. Every restaurant we went to had delicious food! The people are friendly, it’s quiet, and it’s so adorable! I loved it!
