Did you hear that there was a blood moon last night?
I did.
I heard it about 28 times today. And then maybe 30 more times after that.
I get that it’s a big deal. Truly, I do.
However, a blood moon to me means:
THERE WAS A FULL MOON.
AND THEN I WOKE UP
AND WENT TO SCHOOL.
AND I TAUGHT.
KIDS.
I TAUGHT LITTLE CHILDREN.
AND IT WAS HARD.
IF YOU DON’T GET THAT,
YOU’RE NOT A TEACHER.
So anywho . . .
I sent home a new writing practice idea in our homework this week. I’m pretty excited about it. (no sarcasm – really – honest and truly – well, maybe a little bit of sarcasm) We usually wait until later on in the year to include writing homework in our weekly packets but, this year, we decided it would be great for the kids to practice at home, too.
Don’t get me wrong. They do have to write in their weekly packets. I’m not expecting them to do their homework telepathically. It’s just that they’re writing phonics patterns and answering questions based on reading passages, and completing math tasks, and even practicing printing because honestly, I do not have time to do that during the day so most of my kids have atrocious printing because I’m usually just telling them to hurry up, finish already, I can’t take it, stop erasing already, but they are not actually completing an actual writing assignment.
I pulled one of my students over today for a little one-on-one action to see if she could complete this task independently. She tends to struggle so I just wanted to see how this would work for her.
She needed a tiny bit of help to get going (we went over the words in each picture box) and then once she caught onto the sentence pattern, she was good to go. She was extremely excited to read her sentences to me when she was finished.
Of course she wanted to color it.
So did I.
But I was nice and let her color two of the pics.
I’m a giver, don’t ya know.
You can check it out {HERE} if you’re looking for something to include in your homework, too. Or, if you just need something to boost your writing time in the classroom.
It’s on sale, too!
Okay, that’s it. It might only be 6pm and it might still be light outside, but it’s time for pjs. And a glass of something yummy.
If you get what I mean.
If you’re picking up what I’m putting down.
