Happy Saturday!!!
It is going to be another hot day here . . . even though I heard somewhere that it’s officially fall and people are drinking pumpkin spice lattes, and wearing boots, and wearing scarves, and going to football games where you have to order hot chocolate in order to keep warm, and doing all other types of things that are lovely and cozy.
Or maybe that’s just Pinterest. And TV commercials. And Pottery Barn catalogs.
I first blogged about my “new” library {HERE}. And I mentioned about how the corner was actually fake.
I used to have emergency water bottles stored in that fake corner with a little cushion on top. And there was no problem.
Until the second day (SECOND DAY!) of school when one of my little guys dove into the corner.
Yes, dove. And that doesn’t say dove, like the bird, but dove, like a diver.
Which means he dove face first into water bottles and not cushions, like he thought.
He was alright. Just a little shocked.
As was I.
So I finally got a little table (it was actually gifted to me –thank you, Alyssa! — and then Steve spray painted it), a lamp, and a picture frame (on sale!) to remedy the situation.
Never mind that it took six weeks.
Also, never mind that I STILL don’t have student work up on that bulletin board. Next week, I’m taking that schoolhouse down and putting up a scarecrow so I am hoping to do some scarecrow/fall/or pretending-that-it’s-fall writing very soon.
Here’s a close up of what I put in the picture frame. Except the close up is at my house because I texted a picture of it to Hadar after I printed the cute clip art because I had to brag about how clever I am.
Yes. I have issues. We know this.
I know.
Perfect for a class library, right?

The season finale of Big Brother aired this week. Steve and I were super excited and couldn’t wait to see what would happen.
I won’t spoil anything (although surely if you watch Big Brother, you know who won by now), but I will say we were happy with the ending.
I feel sad that it’s over, though. I am a huge fan of this show and I try to get everyone to watch it and then everyone tries to watch it and then they give up.
I do not know how they give up.
I mean, it’s on THREE DAYS A WEEK!

I cooked (or, maybe more accurately, opened cans and threw them into a bowl, and did a little stirring)!! And now I’m telling everyone I know to eat this.
Seriously, I am texting this recipe to everyone in my life.
It’s called Salsa Chicken and Shells and it’s from Shay at Mix and Match Mama. I am a little bit obsessed with Shay. Her brother is Sean, one of the bachelors from the Bachelor Franchise, who married Catherine. (It’s possible I stalk them on Instagram. I’m not saying it’s a fact. Just saying it’s possible.)
Anyways, I read Shay’s family blog every single day (she posts Monday through Friday, but that’s because she wakes up at 4am and makes it a priority, and I just cannot do that, I do not function at 4am so don’t get your hopes up) . . . as I was saying, I read her blog every single day. It’s pretty much the first thing I do when I wake up. Really. It’s a thing. And Kerry has met her in real life because they live very close to each other in Texas. So that means, by extension, I’ve met her too.
Well, let me tell you. For a person who doesn’t cook (me), this was a super simple recipe to make and it was super yummy, too.
Steve and I ate it twice this week.
Deeee-licious! I made it on Sunday, threw it in the fridge, and dinner was ready to go for a weeknight.
One of my teammies is an incredible baker and she brings yummy treats to us on a weekly basis. One week, it’s cookies, the next week, brownies . . . this week it was pumpkin chocolate chip bread. In its own little tin! Which makes it look like you have an entire loaf of bread, but you don’t. You just actually have a piece of bread and that’s all. It’s actually quite deceiving and I’m not sure how I feel about it.
I am not a huge fan of pumpkin (I know, I know) and wasn’t sure if I was going to really like this as much as I like her brownies and cupcakes and cookies . . . but I got a fork from the staff lounge and the rest is history.
Or, it will be after I finish off the tin for breakfast this morning while Steve is still sleeping so I don’t have to share.
Honestly, there really is not enough to go around. The tin just makes it look like that.
My team and I wanted to start including some writing in our weekly homework packets (we usually include writing later on in the year and wanted to change things up) so I created this little sheet. I am working on creating more so that we can have one each week. I am hoping to have a whole pack in my store soon.

Hi. I made my cute little library. Now that the kids are sitting on it the fabric is getting all wrinkly. I used duck cloth which is heavier than 100% cotton cloth. I pulled the fabric tight and my SIL staple gunned it on. Did you spray adhesive on your foam? I was going to tell my kids they couldn't sit on them haha! Debi
