10 Teamie Questions about Laurie.
#1 How long have you and your Teamie been teaching together?
We have been at the same school for 10 years now but we have taught first grade next door together for the last 5 years. Before that, Laurie taught second grade with a . . . how do you say . . . different kind of a partner. ๐
#2 What is your Teamie’s best quality?
There are so many. It’s hard to just say one. Hmmmm. She is very level headed and can see both sides to a problem, situation, difficulty, etc. This comes in handy when I have the occasional freak out.
#3 Who will retire first?
We will retire on the same day. She may be a few years older than me but she started teaching later so we’re kind of neck and neck. I don’t want to teach without her so we MUST retire on the same day.
#4 What makes you two an awesome pair?
We’re uh-mazing. ๐ Ha! I don’t know. We just work really well together and bounce ideas off of one another . . . We both work really hard and often say, “Do they want our blood, too?” ๐
#5 Do you both have any rituals that get you through the day or a hard time?
We have to have George Winston playing in the morning before the kids arrive. We both love Excedrin. We stand outside our open doors to “discuss” things during class time. And if it’s THAT kind of a day, we will leave our “brought” lunches at school and “run down the hill” (this is a common saying at my school – we are actually driving when we say this) to get fast food or a yummy sandwich from a yummy deli. ๐ And we always share a bag of chili cheese fritos. (I never said we were the healthiest teamies)
#6 What is a word that describes your Teamie?

No, she’s not. ๐ And I don’t think this will push her in, either. She likes to claim that she’s not computer savvy but she’s TONS better than she thinks she is. (And a lot smaller and skinnier, for that matter, but she never believes me)
#8 What is the funniest thing that you and your Teamie had to face at school?
I’d say we usually get the giggles when we’re stealing taking butcher paper from the Instructional Resource Center. They only allow you to take so much and we need WAY more than the allotted amount. One time the worker person asked me if I was WALLPAPERING my classroom! I mean, really! Is it any of her business if I saw something on the DIY channel and wanted to try it in my classroom? Laurie and I try to be really sneaky and end up getting the giggles. We also tend to get the giggles when we’re at a Staff Development thing or workshop, or even during Staff Meetings. I think that when you get the giggles when you are not supposed to is high-larious!!! And this happens a lot with Laurie. ๐
#9 Complete this sentence…I would not trade my Teamie for a $1,000 gift card at the Dollar store because…
Well, for one thing, she was with her other partner for 5 years so this coming year, I am about to beat that record. I’m dying to beat that record. AND . . . she’s worth way way way more than a $1,000. I wouldn’t trade her. No way, no how! So back off! ๐

Her laugh is loud and infectious – I love when I am at school in the morning before she arrives because I can hear her coming. ๐ She is only a few years older than me but she likes to “baby” me. She would drive me everywhere (if I let her) and lift every heavy thing that ever existed (if I let her) and run anywhere to get me something (if I let her). Simply put, I love her. She is my best friend and I feel so blessed to be able to work with her every day. I was traveling the first two weeks of summer vacation and when we were FINALLY reunited and had talked each other’s ears off for hours, she later said at dinner, “I missed you!” AWWWWWW!!!
PS I chose purple for my answers because it is Laurie’s favorite color. ๐ And I have a bit of a problem with purple but I sucked it up! Ha!
