Catch Up

So we’ll all just ignore the fact that I haven’t blogged since Tuesday. Even though my twin, Kerry, called me yesterday to check on me to make sure I was okay due to the fact I hadn’t blogged since Tuesday. Since Tuesday! Where is your Five for Fraturday? Where is your next journal entry?

Meanwhile, we’ve talked practically every single day this week, and we even Face Timed so that I could see how a pair of jeans I was thinking of ordering online looked on her. We’re fraternal and do not have the same body shape at all (for example, she is taller, she runs every day, she does not have the big behind that I have, and her legs are skinnier, it’s a wonder I like her), but I just needed to see.

But I am fine.

Busy. And maybe a tad bit lazy which I have confessed to before.

This post will just catch you up. It will be random.

Thinking I would be able to do a Five for Fraturday post, I have some pics from my week. But we won’t call it anything. It will just be pics from my week.

Oh my Thor. The eggs are back and it’s not Easter. They’re in disguise as Christmas balls or something. On Tuesday, I ate five or six pieces of See’s candy (in a row) at school so I had made a deal with myself not to eat any candy during the rest of the week. And then I saw these on Wednesday.

I am proud to say I have about five pieces left in the bag.

That’s success, if you ask me.

I found this happening in my library the other day. It cracked me up. Just look at it.

This was not staged.

Do you think that bunny rabbit hat would look good on me? I can’t decide between the bunny rabbit one and the wolf one.

I had success at the mall the other night. First, and I’m not lying, we got a front row parking spot. For real. A car pulled out just as we pulled up and we got it. I had to tell hubby how I had just blogged about getting a front row spot and that this was a Christmas miracle!

Not only that, my girl from Nordstroms, Stacie-Turned-New-Best-Friend-Personal-Shopper-Who-Knows-How-To-Pair-All-Things-With-Leggings was there and hooked me up with a new outfit for the hub’s party this Friday.

Here’s a peek:

Uh, so yeah . . . I don’t take pictures of clothes that often so this doesn’t look exactly right, but I hope you get the idea. That’s a flowy blouse and it has one of those tails in the back that covers your booty. My new favorite kind of shirt!

And not to be confused with my booty, but I also got booties! As in, ankle boots with a bit of a heel. This particular bootie is apparently very popular and quite comfortable. We’ll have to see about that. I’m wearing all of that with skinny jeans I already have. I just have to determine if I want to wear a dark wash or a regular wash and whether or not I’m tucking the jeans in or rolling them up. Stacie said I have options.

Which means I have no clue what to do.

Yesterday, I went to see a former student (who helps me in my room every day with Sight Word and Math Facts testing) perform in the Nutcracker Ballet.

I had never seen it.

Have you seen it?

I think I may have gotten it mixed up in my head with the Velveteen Rabbit and possibly Toy Story. I don’t know.

I didn’t get it.

I am admitting that. I am coming clean. I’m being honest.

I did not get it.

My student was only in the first act (and was brilliant!!!!) so at the intermission, I asked her what in the world was going on with the rat and the mice and the guy with the big crazy hair.

She didn’t know. She thought maybe the whole thing was a dream.

Hmmmm.

I loved the dancing. Ballet dancers are absolutely beautiful.

But.

Well. There were a couple of things that took me by surprise.

For one thing, there was no talking. None at all. Not one word.

And there was no singing. At all. There was just music. With no words.

Well, I like dialogue. I think it has something to do with the fact that I was raised by parents who were into drama and inspired me to be into drama, too. I think I might be more of a theater gal.

And then there were the men ballet dancers.

In white tights.

Under bright lights.

And . . . well . . .

I felt uncomfortable.

It was like . . .

Well you could see . . .

They were practically naked.

There. I said it.

I think I know why they call it the NUTcracker.

What is wrong with me? Seriously. I am old, but I am a child.

A child!

So. I’m glad I went — I felt very culturally sophisticated.

Yep.

That’s me.

You crack me up! 🙂 And I vote for dark wash skinny jeans. I think dark wash are "dressier" and I seem to remember an earlier post saying you were supposed to get dressed up.

Also get the wolf hat – all 3 of my boys have them (we picked them up when we visited Alaska this year) – they are adorable and warm!

Your posts are the absolute BEST! I took my son to see my daughter's friend dance in THE NUTCRACKER when he was in the 5th grader. After fifteen minutes of all music/dancing but NO TALKING, he looked at me and demanded snacks in order to be able to sit through the rest of the performance. Two Cokes and two bag of chips later, he watched the rest of the performance but did NOT like it AT ALL!

I hope everyone at the party complimented you on your outfit! I have lots of sweaters/tunics that cover my booty. They are the best!

Soooo funny!
After the first act, my four year old said, "Do they have mouth-es?"
After the second act, he said, "This is taking FOREVERRRRR!"
By the third act, it was alllll cookies and candy to keep him happy.

Ok, I can relate to the Nutcracker comment. We took our 1-6 classes this week. My firsties didn't comment but a close friend's daughter in 3rd grade came home and said it was just embarrassing because you SEE everything. I can attest to that with my 2nd row seats. Your post made me laugh!
