How’d you like that extra hour of sleep?
Mmmmm. Goooooood.
I was on Facebook earlier and a lot of my friends with kids were a little irritated that their offspring didn’t get the memo, and use that extra hour for resting.
Sydney, on the other hand, can’t tell time so she just joins us if we sleep in.
This next story is not the reason for this post, but I just remembered it.
Last weekend, while we were at our Halloween party, my oldest niece (a senior in high school) spent the night at our house because she had to be somewhere early the next morning, and the place she had to be happened to be super close to where we live. And she is NOT a morning girl. So she stayed with us.
Seeing as how we were off to a Halloween shindig because we’re such party animals and would not be home until at least 10:30pm, we left her a key in a secret hiding place. Gave her the alarm code. Changed the sheets on the guest bed. Told her where our Halloween candy stash was located.
And then we wondered (for a just a few seconds, mind you) if Sydney would be okay with my niece coming in. They know each other. But my niece doesn’t live here. And it’s not like we were here to let her in.
We decided all would be fine.
Here’s what happened to my niece. We’ll call her Ashley since that’s her name.
Ashley found the key in the super secret hiding place.
But she couldn’t get the door to unlock. Turns out I’m not the only one in the family with key issues.
In the meantime, Sydney was barking up a storm. WOOF, WOOF, WOOF!
(Good dog!)
After a few minutes of looking like a criminal, (in our neighbor’s eyes anyways, because they texted us and wanted to know if it was okay if someone broke into our house by way of the front door) Ashley crawled through both doggy doors. (By the way, that’s how I first told her she should come in. She wasn’t too keen on it. I don’t get it because I have had to do it on several occasions. It’s fine.)
The entire time, Sydney was barking.
When Ashley got inside and came around the corner, Sydney was facing the front door, barking like a perfect watch dog. On point. Woof, woof, woof! It didn’t matter that Ashley was no longer on the front porch.
(You go, Syd!)
Ashley came up behind her to say hi (Sydney is also hard of hearing, as I’ve mentioned before. So Ashley had to touch her.) and Sydney FUH-REAKED out. As I would have — imagine facing the front door because you hear an intruder and then said intruder sneaks up behind you. People, this is the beginning of a horror movie that I would never watch.
Ashley said Syd jumped, shook like a leaf, and ran upstairs to hide. She found her in our room, curled up in a ball.
Like mother, like daughter, I always say.

I’m really here to write about my non-existent Math Picture Dictionaries.
Let me tell you — I tried.
But once I started, I felt like I needed to back up.
So what started out as a Math Picture Dictionary turned into more of a . . . well . . . I’m not sure what you’d call it.
Hence, I have a really long title for it.
I’m calling it Numbers 1 – 20 Anchor Charts and Student Books in Color and Black and White You Choose It’s Only Fair.
Or something like that. You get the gist.
Besides backing up and starting out with number sense, rather than here is a picture of a ruler and a fraction and a number line, I also couldn’t decide on the formats.
So I offered a lot of choices.
(Shrug shoulders. It’s fine. I’m fine. This is all normal, I’m sure.)
Basically, this is what it looks like. Sort of. But with more choices. This is basically the Hometown Buffet of my TpT products.
Black and white. For a small student book.
Or to have a book at each table group.
I also have a whole set in color.
Just in case you’re rich and you
go for the extravagant lifestyle.
Anchor charts for around the room.
Or to have in a big book.
Or to put on rings.
I also have a set in black and white.
Just in case you’re thrifty.
Or just in case your husband always
whines about the cost of ink.
Student pages to assess number sense.
Or to use for homework.
Or as a warm up.
Or as a center (my kids are finding the
matching anchor chart around our room
and filling in this page).
This one is not offered in color.
It didn’t make the cut.
The Miami Housewives were too important.
I mean, grown men were thrown in a pool and
there was a cat fight, as well.
I’m sure you understand.
If you’re interested, check it out {HERE} or click on any of the sample pages. And if you’d like one for free, leave me a comment with your email. I will choose 3 winners by random draw and announce it by . . . oh, let’s say Wednesday. I’ll choose 3 winners on Wednesday.
As for me, I’m off to do a little blog stalking. And Pinteresting.
And PS. Here is my Melonheadz.
See my watch dog??? ๐

On a different note, we joke that one of my dogs sees zombies outside. She will want to go outside at all hours of the night, but then will scratch (and ruin) my door frame on the front door and push and fight to get in. I feel bad for her that she sees the invisible, but it's kinda funny…or at least that's what I tell myself at 2am when I am up for the 4th time with her!
