Well, it’s time for Farley’s Currently party. I LOVE these. Seeing as how I’ve participated from the beginning, I think this love is clear. But there’s a slight change this month. Instead of “stalking”, Farley switched it to “OLW”.
OLW is a tough one for me. I’m undecided. I’m vacillating. I’m wishy washy. I go back and forth. I’m uncertain. I’m unsure. In other words, you don’t want me on your jury of peers if you’re ever on trial. I’ll agree with the first round of testimony and be ready to say, “Guilty!”. That is, until I hear the next round of testimony and then I’m ready to yell, “Innocent!”. I do this all the time on any kind of 20/20 or 60 Minutes or Crime Show. Yes, my neck does hurt from the whiplash occasionally.
So here’s my Currently:
Okay, I hope I did this OLW thing correctly. I’m a first timer.
I went back and forth between “serve” and “walk”. And I do think most of the OLW’s are verbs. So I think I’m on the right track.
I chose “walk”. Here’s my thought process. Hold on tight.
I am currently in a bible study called “Walk Across the Room” by Bill Hybels (really good book, btw) and so that got me thinking. (“Uh oh. Watch out. She’s thinking,” they whispered nervously.)
I need to walk. In all kinds of ways. I need to walk across the room and say hi to a new substitute who looks lost (I usually do this because I love people, but if I’m busy, I smile and carry on). I need to walk OUT OF MY HOUSE and GO HELP SOMEONE. I really want to work at our local homeless shelter doing whatever they need (whether I’m actually WITH the people or somewhere in the back, organizing something). I need to walk (and get in the car) and go see my family MORE OFTEN because even though they’re thirty miles away, (more like sixty minutes on the 91 freeway) it’s not far! I need to walk across the classroom to help the kid that will never raise her hand, or the boy who is crawling under his desk, or the girl who is daydreaming and I need to be MISS SUZIE SUNSHINE when I talk to them, rather than MISS SARA SARCASTIC. I need to walk across our school campus and say hi to my friends in upper grade and oooh and ahhh over their classrooms even though it is out of my way. I need to walk around! I need to walk so that I’m not stuck in my own little world. Does that make sense?
And I do need to walk. For my damaged heart. Because I’m allowed to do that (if I listen to my body) and I’m almost at the low end of the “normal” spectrum for my ejection fraction (fancy talk!) so I can do it. Not like I used to, but I still can. And hey, I’m ALMOST normal! ๐
So that’s it. Hope “walk” makes sense. It’s not polish or patience or even balance . . . I don’t know. Now I’m nervous. What if I don’t get a rose tonight? ๐
PS My first day back was really good. I think we were all really happy to see one another and now we’re good to go for another week or so. But rumor has it that we have school again tomorrow so I guess we’ll all be seeing each other again. Even though it’s not really necessary since we saw each other today. Just saying.

Kristin, I really wasn't understanding this OLW thing until you chose WALK and explained it so well. (BTW – I read the Bill Hybels book and agree it is great. But very hard for me because I am basically a shy, introverted person. Walking across the room is huge for me!!) I love the depth that you went to in explaining your word. Thank you for trusting us as you shared your heart with us and became transparent. Wow!

Great. Now I don't know what my word is.
I have, like, three, but it's not TLW, it's OLW, so I'm gonna have to narrow it down.

What a beautiful word – walk. Just a deceptively mild word at first glance and then WHAM! walk hits you in the face with meaning. This is one of the best posts I have read about OLW. This is definitely a word to keep on the list for upcoming years.

I like Walk. I vacillate wildly as well. I'm a Libra. What are you? I cannot make a decision about this OLW and I really want to. I'm thinking of taking Ali Edwards course http://www.bigpictureclasses.com/onelittleword.php and I feel like by the time I decide, the course will be half over.
You know you're going to wake up tomorrow and think walk doesn't feel right.

I think walk is perfect ๐ A year ago I wouldn't have had a clue what you were talking about with ejection fraction, but now I know all too well and I wish you all the luck with your heart condition. Fortunately, we have had a very happy outcome with my BIL's heart transplant surgery!

I love to walk! It had been so nice here in Kansas, but the weather lady said that was about to change. We never really had winter yet because it has been so nice! I have gotten into a routine of walking after school….,.guess not anymore!

So as much as I've resisted, the Currently has tickled my "I love to fill out surveys about myself" fancy. Which means I need to start blogging. Which means I actually need to start a blog. Which means I will stop being hounded by my co-workers to start blogging. Thanks to you and Farley, I know my OLW: Blog.

Lovely, but let's talk about what's really important! Bachelor!
Blakely, don't like her. And I just wanted to scream at Jenna, 'GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF WOMAN!' That poor woman needs some counseling, major counseling. "I am not really like a girl. I am more like a guy." Wow. That's all I can say about that.
