Happy Saturday!
Happy Valentine’s Day weekend!
Happy Three Day weekend!
Last weekend, I went to the desert with some of my very favorite people in the world! ๐ We stopped in Palm Springs for lunch and then stayed in La Quinta for the night.
We had a fun stationery exchange and one of the gifts we opened was a onesie . . . and it was Hadar’s way of telling us that she is having a GIRL! Woohoo! ๐
I forgot to take pictures of the stationery I ended up getting or, more accurately, stealing from someone else (we did it in a white elephant sort of way) . . . but it’s a super cute clipboard, gigantic post-it notes, file folders, and a cute notepad. They are all coordinated and in my office now.
We snacked, we talked, we snacked, we talked . . . then we went to dinner in the hotel. After dinner, we put on our pjs, talked, snacked, talked, snacked, etc.
We stayed up late and got up early.
We had a lot of talking to do.
This is the next day on our balcony.
It was Super Bowl Sunday and I only know this
because Hadar wore a football shirt.
Other than that . . . I heard Payton Manning won.
We went to the outlets on the way home for shopping and lunch.
These girls went nuts for Kate Spade. NUTS, I tell you. The purse I’m holding is not actually mine — one of us bought two, but I’m not telling because there was talk about how her husband might feel if he found out she bought TWO. Ha! I did buy the pink wallet I’m holding and I love it.
But now that I see myself holding that purse, I’m a little ticked at myself that I didn’t buy it. I think we look pretty good together, if you ask me.
It was a super fun weekend and I hope we get to do it again sooner than later!
I can’t imagine life without my girlfriends! And these girls — to know we met through blogging and TpT — it’s just amazing.
We read a lot of books about Abe Lincoln this week. We filled out a couple of thinking maps and did a little writing, too. Hadar shared this cute craft on her Instagram so I hopped right on over to TpT to grab this freebie as a fun way to wrap up the week.
You can find it in Mrs. Ricca’s store. The pack also includes a George Washington craft so we are going to do that one next week.
Isn’t it cute?
This week was Senior Night at my nephew’s basketball game. I still cannot believe he is a senior!
I missed his whole walk (he was announced and walked with his parents on the court, etc) because Steve and I were stuck in horrible traffic. I am still not over the fact that I missed his walk and this was three days ago now. I may not ever recover.
Number 22 – Jake!
These gigantic posters were on the wall of the gym and
they cracked me up so I had to take a picture.
It was a really good game, but they lost. ๐ It’s always entertaining to hear how passionate the parents are and how absolutely horrible the refs are.
I survived Valentine’s Day yesterday with my kiddos!
One of my kids brought this bottle of wine to me before school started (his mom is a teacher at my school) and he said I had to wait until I got home to open it. Because, he said in a whisper voice, hands cupped around his mouth, standing on tip-toe to speak into my ear, IT’S ALCOHOL!
I died laughing!!!
My kids were amazing yesterday! We had a pretty normal morning. Except for the fact that our superintendent decided to visit our school and walk through classrooms with our principal ON THE DAY BEFORE A THREE DAY WEEKEND. ON THE DAY WE WERE EXCHANGING VALENTINES AND HAVING A PARTY. ON THE DAY WE HAD DECIDED NOT TO PICK UP ANY PENCILS.
But other than that, it was pretty normal.
They came into my classroom when I was reading Junie B.
Which means the superintendent and my principal got to hear the voices that I use for all of the characters, and they stayed and watched for a bit so that I became a little nervous and was unable to turn the page in the middle of a sentence which led one of my kids to say with a big, irritated sigh, uh, come on already!
Thank you.
Thanks for that.
‘Ppreciate it.
The rest of the day was exchanging Valentine cards, having fun centers, which we call our party, and then ending the day with Fun Friday.
I don’t know how, but I managed to stay up past 9pm last night.
I’ve been getting some requests for specific sets of Write the Room. I’m almost finished with the CVC set. I have a few kids who could still really benefit from the extra practice so I am going to use this set for some intervention with a group right now, and save them for actual Write the Room early next year.
I should have these in my store before the end of the day and I’ll be giving away a few sets on my Facebook page. ๐
Have a great weekend!

Kristin, I am a student at Chadron State College majoring in Elementary Education. I decided to follow your blog because I like how you are a teacher, but also a real person. You blog about teaching and living your life, and that is inspiring to me. I started laughing when you shared about one of your students bringing you alcohol! That is hilarious. Had a good time reading your blog! Thanks!

I had a kid sigh & say "I'm bored!" multiple times during my ONLY observation in a long-term sub. placement! I feel your pain…& REALLY hope the principal observes me again (when that kiddo is absent)! LOL
