I have officially started summer vacation. Officially officially. I didn’t do anything school related at all this week. AT ALL. I have been watching dumb shows on TV, including Rich Kids of Beverly Hills and some High Heels show or something.
I don’t know!
It’s fun. That’s why.
So this post will have nothing about school or TpT or learning. You won’t even have to try to do math of any kind.
๐
We started the week with a little bit of wine tasting in Temecula with Steve’s aunt and uncle. We went to a winery called Briar Rose and it was absolutely beautiful. I could have stayed there all day. It was in the middle of nowhere and it felt like we were on vacation. And the bathroom was called “The Necessary Room” which I loved.
I’m going to be honest. The wine was just okay. We didn’t buy any to take home. So there you go.
We went to another winery that I can’t remember the name of but it was super commercialized and busy and indoors and not as much fun at all. And the wine was not okay.
But the meat and cheese plate was more than okay so there you go.

Posing in the best way possible.
Sitting in our favorite pool which is the same
depth all the way around.
I want this pool in my backyard.
The next day, I went to Glen Ivy Hot Springs for a girls’ spa day. Christina from Mrs. Winter’s Bliss was out here for a visit (we used to work together and now she lives in North Carolina and I have talked about her SEVERAL times on here). We go every year. It’s like our little tradition.
It just so happened that this year, one of my besties from school planned a spa day for the same day so Christina got to see some old friends from school and we had a big, fun group with lots of chit chat and laughter.
Christina and I were the only ones not wearing hats. I had meant to bring a hat, but I forgot. I had meant to spray my part (scalp) with sunscreen and I forgot. All of the forgetting was due to the Peach Bellini, chit chat, and laughter.
My scalp got burned. And now it’s peeling.
Hello, my name is Kristin, and I look like I have dandruff.
Kerry (my twin) and her kids arrived from Texas!!
And, sadly, now I am only taller than the 9 year old. And I know that’s not going to last.
We took the kids (and my older niece Ashley who is home from college) to see Inside Out at the movies. I had no clue what it was about – I was just going along for the ride.
Go see it.
It is really more for adults than kids. I laughed and I cried. It is so creative and really well written.
Go see it.
Seriously.
This is Caden, the 9 year old. I’m taller than he is.
We went to Lisa’s house (my older sister) for some swimming and food and hanging out time. She has two dogs (the ones in the water) and then my brother brought his dog (the one that is upset that the other dogs are in the water because he doesn’t swim so no one should).
Murphie was at home. I know. I’m upset, too.
But we are going swimming at a friend’s house today and Murphie is coming with us so it will be okay.
Lots of pool time.
Lots of swimming.
Lots of summer!!
We have also been eating a lot of this. We love Rite Aid’s Chocolate Malted Crunch. If you don’t know about it, you should. They have their own Facebook Page. Obviously, this is a very important ice cream. Kerry can’t get it in Texas so we always always always always eat it when she visits.
I never get it unless she is here and then I binge on it. It is a personal problem and nothing for you to be concerned about.
It is so good. I feel like I need to have some for breakfast. My mouth is watering just looking at the picture. Maybe I could put a scoop in my coffee . . .
And there you have it.
Wineries, spa, movies, pool, dogs, ice cream . . . life is good!
What have you been up to?

I am rushing to Rite Aid today to buy it. It would NEVER occur to me to go to Rite Aid for ice cream, but I believe you.

My Twister Hopscotch just arrived in the mail. Love it! You mentioned in a post that you had all kinds of ideas on how to use this academically. Well school just ended for me and my brain is mush, I tell you mush! So if you could this summer maybe post something about how you plan on using this game academically I and others would really appreciate it!
Thank you for considering my request.

Huh…we don't have a rite aid where I live now, but in my hometown we do and I had no idea their ice cream was that good! ๐ My go-to summer treat lately has been freeze pops! I bought two big bags the other day and have at least 5 pops a day! It's all just water right!?

That was my favorite ice cream flavor when I grew up in LA, when Rite Aid was called Thrifty. And we can still get it here in Nor Cal (Sacramento), where I live now. I have now passed on my love of Thrifty Ice Cream to my son! May have to run out and get some, it is only a few blocks away…..

Hi Kristin! I read your blog all the time–love your voice, but don't often comment. You know how it is… Anyway, I was excited to see you were the one after me on the linky so I had to come over and share some love. Heehee! Looks like you're enjoying your summer. I hate scalp peeling! Happens to me too thanks to my thin hair. I just spent a week in CO, closer to the sun, and didn't do sunscreen. Not smart! Also can't wait to see Inside Out!
