Five for Frunday?

Good afternoon.

I think.

I’m not really sure.

I am not completely here. I mean, I’m here in my office (I still *love* my office, although the walls are still bare because I am afraid to commit to anything as far as a decoration goes, but I still love love love my office) but I’m not exactly here in my mind.

I don’t really understand why or how or the logistics of it, but it took us 18 hours to get home from the Dominican Republic yesterday. Or today. I don’t know. We walked in our door at 2:15am today. Seriously. EIGHTEEN HOURS. I could have gone to Italy almost two times in that amount of time. I do not get it. Time Travel. Huh.

But whatever. We are home safe and sound and I am thankful to God for that and for the trip that Steve and I had together. It was wonderful! But, of course, there is no place like home and having Miss Murphie cozied up next to me.

Here’s a quick –I’ll try not to bore you– recap of my trip in a Five for Friday, Five for Fraturday, Five for Frunday, I’m Just Making This Up sort of way.

Hmm. Shoulder Shrug.

The resort had Botanical Gardens and you could just grab bread from a little thingamajig and feed the birds and geese and turtles and whatever else was around. I really do not like birds. At all. They freak me out. And one of my worst fears is that they’ll poop on my head. But Steve held me in place (he put his big ole mitts on my shoulders and told me to relax) while a few got this.close to me.

He was there, too. I did not trust this big guy.

I was in a lounge chair, reading on my Kindle, having a refreshment, and watching Water Aerobics.

One, Two, Three, Sip.

It was exhausting, let me tell you.

Excursion Number One.

Swimming with Sharks and Sting Rays.

Before you ask, I’m not sure who our photo bomber is in the background, but sometimes, photo bombers are a-okay.

I survived swimming with sharks and sting rays.

The first time a shark swam under me (they were always under me because they were sand sharks and so supposedly they swim near the sand) I freaked a tad bit.

But after that, I got used to it.

Ain’t no big thang.

We met some really really really nice people on board named Angela and Marcus. Angela happened to be a teacher and Marcus happened to barbecue and smoke meat so we became fast friends. They live in Georgia so that will most likely be our next trip.

Knock knock! Remember us?

The staff on board were full of energy and we even danced a little to the Cupid Shuffle. I acted like I knew what I was doing because I play that song a lot in the classroom for a brain break. My kids think I am an amazing dancer.

And, in my head, so did the people on board the boat. I just avoided all eye contact.

Holy Mud.

That really is me waving.

You just can’t tell because I am enjoying my mud bath so much.

Steve had the time of his life.

And I had . . . well, whatever.

Yep. This was Excursion Number Two.

There was no number three, obviously, unless you count our Couples Massage and you know I’m counting it.

We went through the “jungles” of the Dominican Republic. We were told we would get muddy. They even gave us those clear plastic parka thingamajigs. But I said no, I don’t need no stinking parka. I said let’s do this and made itty bitty muscles and some kind of grunting noise to show how tough I was.

I only wanted to cry one time.

And that was when I saw a sad little dog on the side of the road and we weren’t allowed to stop and pick it up and take it back with us and put it in our suitcase and bring it home to America.

We bought some cocoa and some vanilla and we were told our money would go towards the villagers. So we’ll see about that.

We also jumped into a pool of water in a cave.

Yes, I was channeling Andi the Bachelorette. I made Steve act like he was Josh.

It was amazing.

But now here we are.

Back to reality.

Back to school.

Back to my kids!

Amazing!!! We're headed someplace sunny and warm in three weeks and it's almost the only thing getting me through all the snow we've already had in Michigan. Sun = happy.
PS — I'm terrified of birds too. They are so unpredictable!! Freaks me right out!

Welcome back…I was praying about you and that you would be healthy for your trip! I have thought about doing a Five for Frunday…after all I have copied you and many times posted a 5 for Fraturday! I posted every day this last week {I think} and with no school Friday I actually forgot it WAS Friday & didn't do a 5 for Friday! :-0 I did link up with Blog Lovin for their Week of Giving Thanks, and am hosting a Linky for the sale tomorrow…only 3 have linked up so far, but 3 is MUCH better than ZERO! We have 14 kid days and then Christmas Break!!! How about you? I did read some blogs this week with no school and missed reading yours…I don't think you should be allowed to go off on vacation when I have mine…I need the smiles!! ;-D Glad you and Steve had a great time. Have a great 3 weeks with your little ones!
