This has been a long week.
And here’s why.
Steve and I decided to go on a health kick. And I thought I should support him. As a dutiful and supportive wife. Or as the person who doesn’t cook and relies on her husband to make dinner every night. Either one. Shoulder shrug. Eye roll.
What we are trying to do is change our lifestyle. That’s the buzz word, right? It’s not a diet. It’s a lifestyle.
Whatever.
Steve has eaten the Paleo way off and on, and here and there, and blah blah blah — it tends to work for him when he wants to lose weight.
If you don’t know what Paleo is, let me enlighten you.
It stands for People Against Living {and} Eating {anything} Outstanding.
I am starving.
STARVING, I tell you.
Apparently, the Paleo diet is all about what the cavemen ate hundreds of years ago. Whatever they ate was good for them, and they were lean and muscle-y, and looked like Thor.
And I thought to myself well, that sounds good, I can do that, I can be lean and muscle-y and be Thor’s girlfriend.
But guess what?
You’ll never believe it.
The cavemen didn’t have chips. Or bread. Or chocolate.
!!!!!!!!!!
I KNOW!
I was shocked, too!
I thought surely one or two cavemen (or women) must have had a cheetoh puff or something . . . but no. NO.
I am sort-of-kind-of reading a Paleo book and there is actually a level called ENTRY . . . which means you get three open meals a week, and you get to use your regular salad dressings, and even have a diet soda every now and again, but even at the entry level, I am starving.
And I’ve already eaten all three of my open meals.
We started on Monday and it’s Thursday.
Uh huh. Yep.
And yes, I know I’m small-ish, and that I named my blog A Teeny Tiny Teacher, and that I don’t need to be losing weight necessarily, but I know I don’t eat healthy.
Let’s put it this way. If you were to cut me open, a lot of processed foods and chocolate and french fries would spill out. Not to mention the Jiggle Phenomenon that I experience on a daily basis.
Once, Miss Giraffe told me that when you are short, and you eat a muffin, there is really nowhere for it to go. Which means you can practically see the outline of the muffin after you eat it. I actually believe this is true and why I have an actual muffin top.
Anyways, I’m trying to become a healthier person.
And it is hard. And sad. Because I have a new refrigerator in my classroom and the only thing in it right now is water and grapes. Last week, it had cheese and crackers and cheese and chocolate and cheese!
And now I’m starving.
So this is where you guys come in.
I have found a website called Life Made Full that has some really good recipes that we’ve already tried (and liked). But I need more!
Help.
Help me please.
And if you don’t hear from me soon, send Thor to the rescue.
And a bottle of wine.
Thank you.
PS Eat something outstanding for me.

Hi, I'm your newest follower, you really make me laugh.
Just for you I am having an apple and toffee muffin for breakfast. ๐ See how nice I am! If you have to eat like a cave man does that mean raw? I don't think I could take that level of commitment…..

Um…don't the refrigerator cops come and take it away if there's no chocolate inside? I thought having chocolate in the fridge was an absolute requirement. You know, like a law or something.

I'm trying the Clean Eating thing. I guess we were dirty eaters before. All I know is that I'm supposed to read labels super carefully. It now takes me a least two hours to grocery shop. If I can't pronounce the ingredient, I put it back. Oh dear. Good luck with your diet adventure. I just love your posts. After a hard day at school, I always look to see if you've written something new. You make me smile and giggle-thank you!

I know the feeling……of starving……hubby and I went VEGAN for a few months! Until he got frustrated that he didn't lode as much weight as he wanted. His body just got stuck on 185. Well now we eat MOSTLY vegan but not totally. And it's much better!

Oh wow. Good Luck! Eating healthy can be so tricky. I hate feeling like I'm depriving myself, but I love how I feel when I eat better. Paleo is just too much for me, but I do like adopting the whole 30 program as a reset once every 8 months or so. Let us know how it goes!

I don't totally know how Paleo works, but I like the skinnytaste website. Maybe there will be some that will work for you!

I'm no help. Because I lay in bed every night thinking that I need to start eating better the next day. ๐ It's not like I don't KNOW what's good for me. It's just that thinking of food I like makes me happy- and not having it makes me sad. It's a total mindset for me that I need to conquer. ๐ You'll do great! I'm proud of you- and I'm sure I'll be planning healthy food to buy at the store tomorrow. It's the eating it part I have to get better at…. Oh dear. Thanks for this great post!
