People, I can NOT believe the email I got tonight. Jen over at The Teacher’s Cauldron has lost her blog. LOST HER BLOG. That sounds kind of funny when I write it but it’s not. It’s not funny. Stop smiling. This is serious business here. Doesn’t the clipart I chose SAY EVERYTHING?
Not only has she lost her blog, she has lost her google docs and her gmail. Her google account has been DISABLED.
WHAT?! WHAT?!
I had no clue what to reply. So I just said, “WHAT?! WHAT?!”
Then I went to check her blog and a thing came up that said it had been REMOVED.
HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN???!!!
So then I went over to Custom Blog Designs (by Diane) who designed my blog because I thought maybe I could ask her for help (I felt that we became instant friends when we worked together on my blog so I figured she would remember me immediately, as I assume almost everyone does) and guess what she is doing a series on???
“SECURITY FIRST”. Backing up posts, templates, and changing passwords frequently because of hackers. HACKERS.
This is serious.
So I shut down my Mac. I called in the troops.
Chocolate, a glass of wine, and the housewives STAT.
This was not on the lesson plan tonight (Disappearing Blogs). Instead, I took pictures of my winter bulletin boards to post on here (and shamelessly show off) but THIS took precedence. Now I’m in a sheer panic about this happening to me. I mean, THE HORROR. This is WAY worse than Taylor’s breakdown in the B.H. WAY WORSE.
Does ANYONE know ANYTHING that could help Jen? ANYTHING (besides chocolate and wine {which she can’t have because she is preggers} and the housewives)??????????

She could try contacting Google to see if they can get it back!
Mrs. Nunley says
Could the technology people at her school/district be of some help?

Oh how sad!!! Why do hackers have to do things like this. I wonder if gmail has been having a problem lately. There has been a message at the top of my gmail reminding me not to use the same password with different accounts and warning of hackers.

Oh, no! This would be awful! How do we go about backing up our blog posts? I didn't even know that was possible.

I am so sorry this happened to Jen.
It is very important that people build their blogs with self hosted platforms such as WordPress.
I would love to explain but it may take to long in this reply box.
I would be happy to help Jen build a site in WordPress and help you transfer yours if you like.
You can contact me via Almost In Business or through my teaching blog.
Oh what the heck… here is my email lisa at she-homeschools.com
You can let Jen know she can contact me and pick my brain to help her out. I don't mind sharing if I can.
If she did not have a back up of her files, she will have to rebuild. Choosing another platform is best.
Hope this helps.

Wow, I didn't know that could happen. I hope the folks at Google can straighten it out for her! Thinking of what has happened when someone hacks into my Email, though, at least someone didn't use her account to do horrible things! (always looking for that silver lining. Ha.)

just spent the morning mixing up my passwords and making them so hard I had to write them down!!!! I am totally freaked out!!!!
Erin says
Is this real life?! Why would someone do such a thing?! I hope Google picks up on this panic and notifies us all of what we can do to make sure this won't happen again!
Or else I foresee a large teacher blogger movement to WordPress!

As a Blog Designer (http://infusiondesignstudios.com) I have seen this happening with Blogger in the past. The only thing that I can tell her is to wait it out; It's very possible that it will come back, but no guarantee…
She can contact google, but I've never had luck with that. If there is anything I can do let me know.
