I am starting the third week of summer vacation.
I haven’t done anything except spend time with family, sleep, eat, and watch reality TV.
People, I’m serious. It’s true.
I have a list of things to prep for the beginning of the year. But the list is just sitting there. Somewhere. I think it’s on the dining room table. Maybe. Or it’s in my school bag which is . . . well . . . it’s somewhere safe. The garage? Let me know if you find it.
Suffice it to say, some of you out in Bloggy Land are freaking me out. You’re accomplishing way too many things. Would you please stop? It would help me feel better about my lack of contribution to society. And the teaching world in general.
Let’s just say you are making me feel guilty.
Not to mention, I had some documents over on TpT from almost a year ago that shouldn’t have been there because of a clipart situation. Talk about feeling guilty. And seeing as how I think they restrict access to Direct TV and all things Tivo in prison, I took care of it. I removed it.
And I am putting it right here on my blog where it is allowed to be.
First, I need you all to help my BBFF! Hadar from Miss Kindergarten is nominated for the Really Good Classroom Blog Contest in the Pre-K and Kindergarten category. You can only vote ONE TIME. If you download these documents, will you please go vote for Hadar? It would mean the world to me! ๐
Vote {HERE}. Click on Miss Kindergarten. I am super excited for her.
I feel better now.
I use them at the beginning of the year as Morning Work. One each day.
It really opens your eyes to the varying abilities in your class.
For example, one student may trace, copy, and color in five minutes.
Another student may just trace and copy, but run out of time for coloring.
And another student may just color. Apples can be purple, right?
It happens.
And then you know which student you’ll be super close with all year.
So there you go. Enjoy. And vote.
Here is a HOME PROJECT that I did.
No, I didn’t mod podge. Or hodge podge. Or whatever.
No sewing.
No gluing.
I just organized the kitchen pantry. I know. I was exhausted.
I didn’t take before pictures. Oops.
Just picture the pantry full of stuff with me in there griping and whining and complaining that I JUST put peanut butter cups in here! Who ate them? The hubs ate all of them? I JUST got them. I swear, I just — oh, here they are.
But now it looks like this:
Your morning work is FAN-TAB-U-LIS!!! It's amazing just how telling those purple "apples" can be. And . . . you know you are really in for it if you look up and more than 2-3 kids are doing it ๐

I voted for Hadar! ๐ I have a ton of things I want to accomplish this summer. I've been out two weeks and like you I haven't had time to do anything yet.
I've got a teacher friend coming over to help me paint several rooms in my house. Not really looking forward to the work, but I'm excited about the results.
I have copyright issues too. I have a really cool book about Oklahoma that I made, but of course I googled all of the art work. Now I'm going to see if I can redo the art by myself. It's going to be interesting since I'm not artistic. lol

I have been accomplishing SOME things but mostly I have been sleeping in until noon and reading, haha!
Your pantry cabinet thing looks great!!!
Marvelous Multiagers!
I'm pretty sure I've downloaded that morning work before already. It's somewhere. But I'll still go vote for Hadar.
You might've inspired me to clean out my pantry but see, I've got food in my pantry. Like too much. Maybe that's why I need to clean it out. ๐
I've never gotten into New Jersey HW but OC I love!!! I can't decide if Tamara has gotten a little more mean this season. Probably not. She's just so blunt. I am the opposite…
Thanks for the freebie!

Lol I totally love your pantry ๐ I think it is great that you are enjoying time with the family. I think that is most important. I love this time with my boys…these are memories that they will have forever and that is MOST important ๐ Enjoy your summer!
I love your pantry! You did a great job! Funny thing is, that's one of my kids' chores – every so often we set them the task of organizing the pantry – mostly because they're the ones that mess it up as they're sneaking snacks! But, thankfully, I can grocery shop all I want because I have a 13 year old and 10 year old who can reorganize my pantry whenever I feel like it! Yay for having kids! And napping! And napping kids! I'd recommend you get yourself some, but there's a whole bunch of years in between birth and pantry organization and frankly, it just may not be worth it. Depends on how much you hate organizing the pantry. By the way, thanks for the freebie, totally voted!

Looking forward to reading your comments about tonights Bach! I hope she finally gets rid of Ryan. YUCK!
I'm doing an even balance of tv shows and blogging and pinterest with crafts. I have to pace myself with crafts so that they stretch over the rest of summer hahaha.

I'm a little shocked…hurt…speechless (well maybe I exaggerated a teeny tiny bit). It has come to my attention that you were in Oklahoma and didn't even call! Oh my! I'm so upset….and I'm not alone either. I'm dealing with it…. but I just want you to know the hurt is deep!
P.S. Thanks for the wonderful morning worksheets

Our DirecTV is broken!!! ….a moment of silence, please… Someone is coming to look at the satellite tomorrow. But I have missed Drop Dead Diva, TRHNJ, TRHNY, and very possibly Dance Moms and Pretty Little Liars.
Yikes. I think I need an intervention!
Just found your blog – love it! Sounds like my summer break so far. Thought I might be productive today, but it's getting too close to Bachelorette time already…and I can't miss an episode with my BFF…err…Emily!

I hear you, sister! I am sitting in a hotel room with my daughter on the first day of our college road trip, while staring at the bag of stuff I brought with me to prepare for school. I should have left it in the car, since we will be in 3 hotels in 3 nights, but there might be some crazy teacher thief out there who knows I have some good contraband in the car. So, don't feel bad that you haven't started, I think many of us are on the same track. I know you read my Summer Slide post, so go back and re-read it, give yourself permission to slide. Anyway, us teachers work best under pressure, so just think of everything you will create the week before school starts!

Will you come organize my pantry, please? It's a mess!
Thanks for the color sheets! The pantry looks wonderful. I won't let my OCD husband see the picture or he'll want you to be his wife:-)Glad to hear someone else is relaxing and not getting everything done on their to-do list yet, too. Looking forward to your Bachelorette comments tomorrow! And yes, I voted for Hadar:-)

Will you come organize my pantry? No? Okay…. I guess that will be on my list of To Do's this summer! ๐ Your worksheets are adorable! Thank you! I know Hadar appreciates all your support! ๐ Hope your parents had a great anniversary! ๐

Purple apples….the word sold without the /s/ sound is monkey…and bootie and call rhyme…Those are the reasons why I don't need to watch reality tv because I am already living my own! =)
Your pantry looks great. I should be doing that but I think tomorrow I might actually get out of my pj's so I can go to the pool!
Hugs to you my funny friend!

I feel like the summer is going way too fast. I think maybe we need to switch it. Although I doubt the students would learn that much in 8 weeks. Great job organizing your pantry. It looks great!!

Haha, at least you have a real list…mine is more like a mental running list… We'll see how much I actually remember in a month.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Ryan. All he could comment on was HIS feelings, HIS thoughts, His ideal mate who serves him! Jeeesh! Glad she booted him!

Hey Sweet Pea,
I'm right there with you – although I haven't even been out a full week yet, and I'm reading about all these bloggy chicks accomplishing so much and it makes me want to…want to….hug them because they are the sweetest chicks around. But man, can they slack every now and then? Just one day?

When I complained that my almost 15 year old daughter ate all the peanut butter cups in the house, she replied, "I only eat them because you don't!" What? I only don't eat them because she eats them first. Now I have to hide the goodies. I feel your pain!

your pantry looks amazing…looking forward to your Bachelorette response ๐
Thank you so much for the freebie. I will use them with my kinders at the beginning of the year. I was just telling my husband that I am the most unmotivated person I know since my summer vacation began. You have inspired me to clean my pantry too.

I, too, have been organizing and watching a lot of reality tv…RHONJ is my special indulgence! Love, love, love Caroline and Jacqueline! And your blog….:)
I have been teaching 3rd grade for the past six years and will be teaching 1st grade for the first time this fall. Also, I have been searching for the past week for coloring pages for the first days of school. Thank you for your wonderful pages.
Wow! This looks great! I am so impressed!
