I did it!
Sixteen conferences in one day!
I started my first parent conference at 7:20 in the morning. I looked fresh. Hair done just-so, makeup perfect, coffee-infused energy, you know — my normal self on a Saturday or summer vacation or a school holiday. Minus the hair and make-up, obviously. And minus the energy because I tend to be lazy. But the coffee is true.
Then I taught. Sort of. Minimum days feel mostly like we’re hanging out, going to recess, hanging out, going to lunch, hanging out, going home.
It is terrific.
Then I had more parent conferences. With no breaks.
I finished the day at 6:15pm. My eyes were bloodshot, my hair was awry, my makeup was no longer. I’m sure the parents were very impressed with me.
I came home, ate dinner, and basically went to bed.
Today’s schedule was a lot lighter. Plus, I had two cancellations. Darn it.
Dang it.
Dadnabit.
So a few more to go tomorrow and a couple of rescheduled appointments (dadgumit) and I will be completely finished. Woohoo! I might get a day to organize and clean and take an uninterrupted nap.
