It’s a very gray Saturday over here. We have had the absolute strangest weather this week. Windy, rainy, sunny, cold, warm . . . I mean, if you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute.
Ashley with my sister, Lisa (her mom), my brother, Jason, my parents, and me!
There were other people there, too. Like her boyfriend. And people.
But I only took pics of my family. What can I say?
Last weekend, my niece, Ashley, turned 21. I still can’t believe it.
We went out to Red Robin (her choice) and she ordered a drink and got carded. I ordered a drink, too, but I was not paid the same courtesy.
Um, excuse me? Hello? Just what’s the big idea here?
Other than that, it was a really fun night. We ate and talked and talked and ate. Steve was there, too, but my head is blocking his in the picture. And he’s not fond of being in pictures in the first place so I don’t feel bad about it at all. I mean, you snooze, you lose. It’s not like I have a big head anyway.
I don’t. In fact, it’s ridiculously small.
After dinner, Ashley and her friends went to Dave and Busters. And the old folk (meaning my parents and Steve and me) went to See’s Candy and then we went home.
Which is the perfect kind of night, if you ask me.
Last Sunday, Steve had plans with friends. He left early in the morning, but he brought me a coffee from Starbucks first. 🙂
I could have gone to church by myself (and I have!), but I chose to stay home in my pajamas and watch online. I love having the online option! It was a nice, quiet morning to myself.
Then Murphie and I went on a long walk. It was the perfect Sunday!
This week, my first grade team and I had a planning day! Our principal paid for subs so that we could plan for next year. I LOVE MY PRINCIPAL!
And I LOVE my teammates! One brought peanut butter-chocolate chip-oatmeal cookies. And one brought brownies! And then we ordered pizza!
I didn’t bring anything. Unless you count my appetite. And my big ideas. 😉
Planning for next year while you’re in the midst of the chaos that is the current end of year craziness can lead you to feel like you are losing your mind (in more of a I really might be losing my mind and I’m not just saying it to be funny sort of way).
I love planning for new years. I get excited. I want to change things up. I want to be better, smarter, cooler, try this, do that, what about . . . It’s new beginnings. It’s a fresh start. It’s rejuvenating!
But then my mind wanders and I think I can’t forget to ask the custodian for boxes for our lunches for the field trip next week. Or I think my kids are ready to pick their parts for our first grade play. Wait. No. Maybe it’s too soon. Or I have thirteen thousand more things to do before Open House. How will we get them all done? Shoot! Mother’s Day is next weekend? When did that happen? Or What? We’re making classes with pinks and blues for next year??!! What do you mean I can start entering Report Card grades?! We haven’t even started our third trimester district assessments yet!
It is pure insanity.
Anyone else feel like that at this time of the year?
I think this is all fixed now!!!! If you will PLEASE try again, I think you will start receiving email notifications! WOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Okay . . . the key word is THINK. I THINK it is all fixed now.
You’ll have to let me know.
Fingers crossed.
I’m working on The Write Spot End of the Year edition today! I am excited to use these with my class for the last month of school. I’ll have some at the Writing Center and I always include one in our weekly homework. The picture labels really help my struggling writers! And I encourage my other kids to use adjectives and super sentences. It’s been great to see their growth over the year. We started out using the tiered sentences (Look at the, Look at, Look), but now we don’t use any prompts. Blank lines all the way! Woohoo! However, I do have a couple of students that still need the sentence starter for all three pictures (Look at the, Look at the, Look at the). It helps to have these for my wide range of learners.
If you click {HERE} or on the picture, you can grab the pages seen!
I hope to have these up in my store by the end of the day (or early tomorrow morning). And you know I’ll have a giveaway so be on the lookout or follow me on Facebook.
Have a happy Saturday!
