Happy New Year’s Eve! Although I also feel as if New Year’s Eve is no big deal. Seeing as how I am old and all. We’re having some friends over for dinner and there are absolutely NO EXPECTATIONS for a crazy night. I think New Year’s is usually a let down and I find myself wearing uncomfortable clothes and wishing that I was at home in my pajamas, contacts out, glasses on, and possibly a chick flick on in the background. Okay, I find myself feeling that way when I am teaching at school, too.
Well, over the course of yesterday’s copyright laws and violations (of which I must be guilty of several), I apparently reached 1000 followers.
I can’t believe it. Really. Let’s see here.
If I add this with that and then subtract my family members . . . um . . . carry the one . . . no, that’s not right . . . erase that . . . and then if I divide that by . . . or do I multiply . . . and then add the one over to the . . .
I’ve been teaching first grade for fifteen years. I only remember how to do first grade math and we never ever get to the thousands. See my dilemma?
But I just can’t believe it.
I am in shock. I started this blog over the summer because of all the blogs I read and loved and stalked and obsessed over. I had no idea where it would take me. I am so thankful for each and every one of you.
I wish I could offer an Amazon gift card to EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU but I’m not sure a five cent gift card is available. Let me check.
——————————————————————————————-
Nope. ๐ I wonder why not?
What I thought I would do is offer THREE (3) Uno, dos, tres, digital gift cards to Amazon in the amount of $10 each. I know it’s not heart stopping or gasp worthy, but let’s just pretend.
“Wow!” they all gasped.
“Insane!” they all agreed.
So!
Here’s how to enter. I like things to be easy.
1. Leave a comment that you’re following me. And again, if you already are, you can tell me to back off or get a life or get out of my pajamas, already! (and leave your email in case you win!)
2. Blog about this giveaway. This is my least favorite. But there you
have it.
3. Tell me the best New Year’s Eve you’ve ever had so I can try to copy it for next year.
That’s it. I’ll use the random number generator thingy to choose THREE (3) uno, dos, tres winners. Let’s close this up by Sunday night, January 1, midnight Pacific time. I’ll announce the winners on Monday morning.
Here’s what happened on our Malibu trip. It was 55 degrees when we got there and gray and foggy! We couldn’t even see the beach! We drove up and down and I used the restroom in a Jack in the Box. I know – I can make all things exciting. Then we drove up Topanga Canyon – which is just a road. There’s nothing to see. Don’t do it After about twenty minutes, we turned around and came back down. So we went to Santa Monica and walked around the pier (interesting people but no celebrities). Then we drove to Venice and ate at Gloria’s Cafe which was featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. DELICIOUS! We think we saw Gloria but we couldn’t be sure. And we walked around Venice and had people trying to accost us and make us listen to their music. Huh?
It was a nice way to spend time with the hubby but we were both disappointed by the weather. I don’t know why. It is December, after all.

Do you want my honest answer? I have never had an awesome, friend-filled, drink-filled, romantic New Years. When I was younger I always built them up to this big event and was ALWAYS let down. Always.
Then I grew up, and ever since – I've always spent it at home. In my comfies, either with just hubs and I, our kids, or another couple – with kids. Everybody must dress comfortably (I've even had people over in their pj's) and eat tons and tons of junk food.
Tonight -it's just hubs and the kids. This is the first year we are letting our kids stay up until the actual ball drops (we've always done a psuedo ball drop with them on Youtube…)
Happy, Happy!

We're usually pretty low key New Year's Eve and will be tonight too. But about 10 years ago we went to Texas to see our favorite band Cross Canadian Ragweed in New Braunfels, Texas. The show was great! We took time to see San Antonio and Austin some and just loved it. Another New Years Eve was spent at Disneyland and was fabulous. We tried that again a few years ago and the crowd was hideous. We'll keep the memories instead of trying that again. Have a nice New Year's Eve. I hope I win your giveaway.

And last night was not the best New Year's Eve of my whole life but I still liked it so I will tell you about it!!
Three years ago, my boyfriend and I met at a New Year's party!! So we celebrated our anniversary by eating sushi and watching Love Actually (which I forced him into sitting through – even though he ended up liking it!). Then we accidentally fell asleep at like 10:30. Haha!! Party time!

We usually just spend New Years at home in our jammies sitting around on the couch and snacking. Sometimes I can make it until midnight, but usually, I fall asleep by 11:30 or so. My hubby wakes me up at midnight to give me a new year's kiss. Not too glamorous, I know, but…it is what it is!

The best NYE I've ever spent was this year. My group of friends got together and had a nice dinner at a friend's house and then walked to a block party in the neighborhood. We made an appetizer of flat bread, brought a bottle of wine, and spent $6 at the block party. It was a huge success because it was super fun, spent with people I love, and inexpensive. ๐

My best New Years was in 1994 when my second baby girl was born at 6 pm on New Year's Eve. The pictures are hilarious, I am all drugged up holding my baby girl and my husband has these stupid stars on my head. We get to celebrate her birth with the biggest party of the year and the world celebrates with us!

I think I should win based on age! Think about it. I would deserve this- right? Of course I follow you. Anyone who is anyone follows you. Best New Year's Eve was when my kids were little and another family with kids slept over and it was a food and movie fest all night. The good ol' days. Well we only have another few days left so… Have a wonderful year and give Fran M. a hug from me!

The best New Year's I've had so far was when my son was little. We were out camping (I'm always camping!) with some friends. It was such a relaxing night full of laughs and we got to see fireworks that were going off nearby.

The best New Year's Eve I've ever had was four years ago, when my husband proposed!! My sister and all our friends were there and he did it right at midnight!! The ball was about to drop, and we were about to take a picture, when he stopped us all (NO ONE knew) and began a wonderful speech. I can't remember anything he said, because I couldn't believe what was happening! I was totally blindsided! Then, of course, I said yes! We have a great picture of him on his knee with the ball dropping on tv in the background! Best New Year's Eve ever!!! ๐ vigario.h@gmail.com

One memorable new years lasted the whole week! My friends and I had just turned 21 and we went to New York! We got to stand outside with the crowds and watch the ball drop live! It was freeeezing!!!!! And I soon realized people cheer at midnight because they can finally leave and not because it's a new year. Ha! Among the memorable things we did that I loved! Going to Tiffany's, FAO Schwartz, the Met, Central Park and ground 0. You get the picture… it was an amazing new year.

I wish I had a great NYE story, but I also prefer a low key NYE at home with family (and sometimes friends). I REALLY enjoyed staying in this year, as we had our first "real" snowfall of the year on New Year's Eve.

I haven't followed your blog before but will now. I saw a tweet about your giveaways. Always a sucker for a possible prize.
My most memorable New Year's Day/Eve was a few years ago when my brother and his wife met my husband and me in Chicago. We wanted to see the Komodo Dragon at Shedd's but that exhibit was closing by the time we got there. Then, we trudged to the Field Museum to see the Egypt exhibition – not a chance. Later on we decided to go to what looked like a really cool bowling alley/arcade type thing but…you guessed it…we couldn't because my brother was wearing "swishy" pants. By the way, they were very nice swishy pants but that didn't matter. So by the time the night was over, we didn't see anything but the train. We still laugh uproariously about that day and night.
