I worked on a bulletin board today.
You know, to replace Mother Bear.
And it turned out okay except that I am missing two pieces of artwork. I know about one – he was absent, but the other was just gone and I wasn’t about to go looking in 30 desks. Especially seeing as how it’s the end of the week and we really only deep clean our desks on Fridays.
Oh, and PS, NO, I didn’t sit there and figure out whose it was by crossing names off a list or some such other amazing trick. I didn’t. And we couldn’t Stand Up, Sit Sown either because this was AFTER school.
That’s right. I teach during the day.
Anywho, it also turned out okay even though my Paper Pro stapler let me down. LET ME DOWN, I said.
It kept opening. I would staple one staple and then, BAM! The tray where the staples go would just slide right open. So I’d have to shove it back into place and I’d staple one staple, and then it would happen all over again.
Grrrrr.
So I got down off the counter, got an old-school stapler (please picture black, Swingline, dusty, and decrepit), got back up on the counter, stapled and . . . nothing.
NOTHING.
I looked at it. Opened it. Shoved it closed with anger and frustration Closed it carefully so as not to hurt it in any way and tried again.
NOTHING.
Grrrrr.
I looked for another stapler.
Guess what? I don’t have another one. I am a teacher and I only have two staplers and this is my life.
I ended up using my Paper Pro stapler and I had to shove it closed after every single staple. AFTER EVERY SINGLE STAPLE. And, occasionally, after I would staple, the tray would open and the staples would FALL OUT. Sometimes, they landed on the counter. Other times, they fell off the counter and onto the floor.
GRRRRRRRR.
I went to Staples after school today to buy a new stapler. Except that I ended up going to the grocery store instead, and I got chips and salsa and Cheetoh puffs.
Here’s the bulletin board:
See the space on each side of the tree?? Yeah, that’s where my missing two art pieces are supposed to go. I think that will take this board from okay to pretty good. And that was taken with my iPhone after I’d been on and off that counter like I was a Lady Doing Lunges At The Gym. So, oh well. It’s blurry. Hello, my name is Teeny. My stapler doesn’t work, I take blurry pictures, and now my legs are sore.
That tree in the middle is from Carson Dellosa and is actually extremely brilliant. It’s a seasonal tree. And the leaf bunches are double sided!
You can check it out {HERE}. I am not writing a review, FYI. I just like it.
I also bought this big guy:

He is also from Carson Dellosa and I love him. I don’t know exactly what I’m going to do with him, but I want him to be my pet.
The End.
Sorry. I didn’t know how to end this post. I couldn’t think of anything clever. So I wrote The End.
For real now.
The End.
Really.
Goodbye.

I had a problem with a paper pro stapler. I contacted them and they sent me a new one! For free! You should see if they will help you out.

Thanks for posting that seasonal tree set. It's always hard to find one that is small!
Patty, that's great news! I bought several paper pro staplers on clearance at Walmart for $3 a few years ago. They do fall apart and break sometimes.
There is an awesome bulletin board stapler called a "palm tacker", but you can't use it for regular staple jobs:

Make sure you wear the wrist strap. I didn't and it fell and it broke…and my heart broke with it!

Your board looks nice & I love the moose. I bought a paperpro stapler this summer & mine does that. Since this was my first one (per your recommendation) I thought maybe that's the way they all are. I might call the company as a comment above suggested. I love your posts! The end. :-)Carol

I think you could make a speech bubble for your moose. He looks like he might have something witty to say. Maybe his thoughts could change with the seasons/different antler sets.
(Don't ask me what–you're the one with the gift of words, Teeny!)
I think we've all had Grrrrr moments with staplers. My biggest pet peeve is that mine always seem to run out of staples at inconvenient times, for example when I'm standing on a counter, or halfway finished with a giant sheet of butcher paper. That makes me mad!
That does look like a cute bulletin board, though. I need to work on something nice for fall!

Your board looks fabulous…even if your stapler tried to kill you. YOU WON!!!

I love to read your blog. I'm laughing because it has all happened to me. I found a stapler that worked okay. I stapled a few papers and I then I ran out of staples.

Your posts crack me up each time I read them! I too have that stapler and love it. I am so stingy with it too. I never let it leave my classroom. Enjoy your weekend!
