Snowballs

Well, my hiatus from teaching related posts is over.  Thanks for humoring me on the whole Bachelor thing.  It’s nice to know so many of you feel the same way I do (as in, I am normal and all of those other girls are not, and of course the Bachelor would pick me no matter who he was because I am normal) and I can’t wait to watch on Monday.  It will be something I can look forward to seeing as how it will be my first day back after three weeks off.  I’m starting to freak out about it.  Because it’s coming.  No matter what.  I have tried just sitting on the couch (sitting still) to see if that makes time pass more slowly and it doesn’t.  Maybe I should turn off the TV and put the laptop away when I do that.  Maybe then time would slow down.  

I thought maybe someone could use a January poem for something. I’m actually not sure if I need it or not.  I know I am prepped and planned and ready for Monday (yes, that is annoying but, remember, I am normal) but I can’t recall what any of that planning, prepping, and readiness is about.  

I LOVE this poem.  It cracks me up.  It’s by Shel Silverstein.

This poem has everything!  A little bit of rhyming, some contractions, some short vowel words, long vowel words, it’s FUNNY, and even goes into Matter.  
I had a couple of onery  rude  hilarious  inappropriate boys act like they were urinating when we read this poem last year.  Boys.  They can be icky.  But it was also THAT kind of class.  I barely made it out of there with all the hair on my head because I was constantly pulling it out.
So I understand if this poem is not your cup of tea.  I have another poem to share with you that’s more . . . shall we say . . . oh . . . sweet.  It’s sweet.  Kind of boring but I get it.  I’ll be back with it tomorrow.  Or the next day.  No promises.  I’m going to be very busy working hard on getting time to slow down.  I’m sure you understand.

    I LOVE the poem and I can relate to boys pretending they were urinating…remember I AM the Potty Police!

    hehe…I love that poem! We read a lot of poems, especially Shel's.
    And I'm so sorry my friend..I wish I could stop time…really, I do. Then I could savor my baby even longer! My school is going back tomorrow too. And I'm kind of bummed, but…only kinda. lol. I think I might nap (again) tomorrow..hehe.

    Super cute and funny poem!! I don't have any suggestions for turning back time….I can't keep track of the present let alone turn it back!!! We started Wednesday and for the life of me I keep thinking it was Monday….good news is, tomorrow's Friday…..I think…lol.

    I'm grabbing the poem too. It will work with my second graders too. I am impressed that you have your lesson plans done. I had a student teacher since Sept. So I feel like I haven't done lesson plans in months….actually, I haven't! I hope I can remember HOW to make lesson plans!

    Cute poem ! I am trying to slow time as well, where did my 2 weeks go ??? I am in full procrastination mode, hence the laptop on again and checking 'just a few things'. I am all planned and ready for Monday but after that ???? Need to get moving, plus we (royal we, my husband is the worker) are taking up all the carpets and laying new hardwood so after just undecorating and vacuuming a million needles, I get to move everything again ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe going back to work is not such a bad idea.

    Good luck with the slowing time down thing. Try sitting at the DMV for a while or maybe go wait for some blood to be drawn at the lab. That always seems to do the trick for me.
