Happy Saturday!! For the first time in a long while, I have a FREE weekend! I’m so excited! My biggest plan is to make new Privacy Folders . . . be jealous. 😉
Last weekend, I went to Arizona with my parents for my Grandpa’s memorial service. 🙁 The service was really nice, though, and it was so good to see my grandma. I’ve said this time and time again on my blog, but my grandma is seriously amazing. She is an inspiration to everyone around her and has so much strength! When she was 89, she was in a terrible accident and lost both her legs, but it hasn’t stopped her at all. Now she’s 95!
When we got there, we took her out to dinner, and she gave us directions on how to get there. And I’m not talking Turn right at the gas station, and then turn left at the funny looking yellow fire hydrant by the curb that has this weird crack in it . . . (which is how I give directions) . . . but she actually used words like go north on such-and-such street and then east on such and such street.
I don’t do north and south and east and west directions.
GPS is one of my closest friends and, even then, I’ve gotten turned around a time or two.
We keep asking my grandma to move to California to be closer to us, but she keeps telling us no.
We had a hard time leaving her all by herself. 🙁
That pretty much took up the bulk of my Fourth of July weekend since my town decided to celebrate the Fourth of July on Saturday, the SECOND. When I was gone.
I mean . . . what in the world? Seriously? So are we going to celebrate Halloween on Saturdays now? Because I’ve wanted to start a movement for that since I started teaching! Who cares if October 31 doesn’t fall on a Saturday? I certainly don’t! Who’s with me?
But the FOURTH of JULY? Our country’s birthday? To move it to the weekend IN SUMMER? When I’m off? And not teaching the next day?
I.DO.NOT.GET.IT.
Anywho . . . Steve and I stayed in, and he did some barbecuing for me, and it was DELICIOUS. We had ribs, twice baked potatoes, and fried corn. And, if you haven’t had fried corn, you are MISSING OUT.
The wine was pretty tasty, too!
He told me to take a picture of our plates before I could eat it, by the way.
I’ve got mail!
I follow a ton of teachers on IG and one sent her kids home with a self-addressed stamped envelope on the last day of school so they could write her during the summer. I can’t remember which IG teacher this was because I saw it a long time ago, but if it’s you, be sure to let me know!
I thought it was such a good idea and felt disappointed that I hadn’t thought of it. BUT THEN.
I remembered I had thank you cards that I needed to write to my kids so I included a self-addressed stamped envelope with the cards, and told them I would love to hear from them.
It has been so much fun going to the mailbox this summer! The little notes and letters are seriously making my whole day. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS IF YOU NEED AN EGO BOOST. 😉
I will definitely do this again next year!
It was my blogiversary on Tuesday, July 5!! I’ve been blogging for FIVE YEARS NOW!!!
Can you believe it? Because I can’t!
This blogging journey has blessed me in more ways than I can count! Whether you’re a new reader or you’ve been with me all along the way, thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you for coming along with me!
It means the world to me and whether you realize it or not, it gives me the nudge to keep on going.
THANK YOU!
I did it.
I got Rodan and Field’s Skincare.
Because I’m old.
And I need to reverse it.
I’ve been using it for about a month now, and I really like it. A lot.
PS I’m not selling it.
But I like it! A LOT!
The roller is the funniest thing in the world. It feels funny. But I am somehow addicted to it. And my dealer friend sent me a YouTube video of the R&F ladies demonstrating how to use it and then at the end, they say if it takes you more than a minute, you’re rolling for too long (or something along those lines) and I about died because if I were to take a guess, I would say I was rolling for about . . . oh . . . maybe . . . three to five minutes? Or ten? Or maybe twenty during a Friends episode?
Who knew?
I am really trying to reverse the lines in my forehead.
It’s not my fault I talk with my whole entire face. All the time. For effect. To get my point across.
To keep my kids engaged.
It’s kind of a personal problem.
I didn’t take any before pictures. It was kind of an accident and also a kind of I don’t want to take a close up picture of my face without any make up on, thank you very much, plus I’m not putting this on FB, are you crazy? so I don’t exactly have any before and after pictures to show you.
Darn it, right?
But I do see subtle differences (you’ll have to take my word for it) so I’m just going to keep it up and see what I look like a year from now. What will happen if I don’t recognize myself??!!
And yes, I know it can be expensive, but you don’t want to know what I’ve spent on get rid of wrinkles products.
I mean, I might as well have gotten plastic surgery by this point and look like a Barbie. Which is not a good look because I’m real and not plastic, but you know what I mean.
Like I said, I am not selling (and won’t), but if you want more info, you can click on the pic or the links! And then we can talk about how good our skin looks and feels! (And you can remind me not to use the roller for such long periods)
And that’s about it!
I’m off to make my Privacy Folders! It’s a party over here!!

I’ve been using R&F for about a year and a half now and I’M SOLD! I have seen HUGE changes and to tell you a little secret …. I love “my face” the most at night when it’s clean and the regimen is all on….and no makeup!
This summer I’m wearing NO makeup (letting my face breathe) …. I might throw on some mascara but nothing else! Who knew I would EVER do that! HA!
Anyway….keep it up! I think you will love it!

As usual- I love your post. I am so sorry about your grandpa. It had to be so hard leaving your grandma. Congratulations on 5 years! 🙂 And… I feel like I can’t get past the fried corn. HOW do you do it? YUM. And those potatoes with the cheese. Oh my gosh, yum!
